“Great location”
Reviewed 13 July 2014 via mobile

Great location, but probably needs some update. Men at the reception are very kind (Mr. Gaston, if I remember well the name, in particular) . Rooms are nice but could be improved taking also in consideration that isn't a budget hotel

There is a lot to like about this hotel if convenience to the airport and some relaxation is what you need. We stayed at the end of our trip, because we received significant savings on our flights from our airline to stay a few nights here before we left. I would not have chosen it as a designation hotel.

Most important:
Port St Laurent is not Nice, even if "Nice" is in the name of the hotel. It is NOT close to Nice--if you want to navigate a bus or train ride, you can easily get there. If you really want to see Nice, though, I would choose a hotel in Nice.
There is no pool, but it steps from the beach. You can pay a fee of 12 euros per person to use private beach area, with towels, chairs, umbrellas a spot of sand. While this seems expensive, we've found we pay a "resort fee" when we stay in hotels in Hawaii--this hotel just gives you a choice. See more on beach, below...

It very close to a great grocery store and large mall (both closed on Sunday).
There are tons of restaurants to choose from along the promenade, which is just outside the hotel.

The rooms: this hotel has been undergoing renovations, and the lobby was having some work done while we were there. Be sure to take a look at the attached photos--you don't want to miss seeing the carpet. Our room had been updated, and did not have a water view, but had a balcony. The beds were excellent, the WiFi worked great, the A/C worked well enough for us. There is a small fridge loaded as an honor bar--we just unloaded it to use it. The room was clean and spacious. As others have mentioned, the toilet is separate from the rest of the bathroom, which is actually nice, except there's no sink, so you have to walk into the other bathroom to wash your hands. There are no bedside lamps (which is fine if you read on a kindle or ipad--not so good if you want to read a book), and no art on the walls. The shower was good but it seemed to leak (yes, we had the shower curtain tucked inside the tub). Also, inexplicably, the tub/shower is quite elevated, to anyone tall has to stoop when showering. There was a hair dryer, shampoo, and a hot water kettle in the room, as well as instant coffee (Nescafe) and tea. Cleverly, the lights do not work unless you plug your key card into a slot near the door. Presumably this is because you would likely take the card as you leave, so you won't waste electricity. Maybe this is common--we'd never seen it before and had to figure out why the lights wouldn't stay on. The bedcover is a comforter in a duvet--no top sheet. Which means if you get hot, you can't just sleep under the sheet--its the full duvet or nothing. And we never got the TV to work, but we also never cared enough to bother the front desk. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful.

Breakfast buffet cost 19 euros and was pretty good--some hot dishes, lots of breads and pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, etc.

The hotel sits on a promenade that is lined by tons of restaurants--many choices for eating. Although not much open in the am.

About the beach--much of the strip near the hotel is public, so if you want to swim in the sea, and sit on the pebbly beach (these is some sand here and there), you needn't pay the beach fee unless you want the chairs and umbrellas and towels.

I think using the term "resort" is more than an overstatement, but it is a lovely setting and we had what we needed.

This hotel is in need of renovating. The room we had did have a nice view of the ocean however the room was very dated, wall paper was falling off the walls. The shower leaked so bad it wet the carpet in the bedroom. The rooms were noisy in the fact we could hear our neighbors talking not to mention other things. The exterior windows and doors are double glazed to keep the noise of nearby airport down. The place just needs a good revamp. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The location is good if you want to be near the airport or close to a sandy beach. (Beaches in Nice are stony) the hotel is a long way from downtown Nice. We did not eat in this hotel, but there are plenty of restaurants and food choice close by. Due to the poor weather we could not take advantage of the beach facilities, which look quite good. The hotel has a free shuttle bus to/from the hotel to airport that runs quite frequently or there is a phone inside the terminal to call them. The Laurent railway station is close and easy walking distance to the hotel. I think if I went back to Nice we would stay close to the main centre as opposed to out by the airport.

Room Tip: A room with a view of the sea is a must.

This property was once a hot spot I'm sure. Now the area is a bit run down, alot of shops and restaurants are closed down. The hotel smelled musty, although our room was nice, new carpet, etc... the bed was HARD!

Very convenient for CAP 3000. Rooms comfortable. Unfortunately restaurant was closed in the evenings but plenty of alternatives nearby. Convenient for airport. Pleasant staff. Poor selection of beer in bar. Close to railway station to visit Monaco etc and buses. Relaxing and quiet

Stayed there one night on business. Room was bigger than I thought and no noise or anything. Clean too. So server the purpose well. The breakfast was very basic, maybe a bit wider selection than in Holiday Inn Express but nothing special. They are not claiming they have a pool but as I was not reading the hotel description too well I assumed so based on photos. But I think the pool there is just for decoration(?). It doesn't matter really as the hotel in on the beach.

Room Tip: If you're very sensitive to traffic noise opt for seaside. But other side is pretty quiet too de...
