After a short one hr drive from the Nice airport, Virginie met us at the door of the hotel, perfectly located in the older part of Ste Maxime. Views of the Gulf of St Tropez, lovely room, delightful breakfast and an easy stroll to the restaurants and shops. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Virginie gave us spot on recommendations not only for the immediate area but also for the rest of Provence. We heartily recommend the Hotel Royal Bon Repos. Peter and Liz Herreid

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel.
Positives:
- Very clean, no faults there
- Quiet at night, and although there is a church very closeby, once you close the main windows, the noise is completely blocked out.
- It has an option for a little kitchenette, so if you are a late riser or enjoy having your breakfast/lunch at your own pace, I recommend getting the kitchenette option for additional 20 Euros per night upon your arrival. It is small but well equipped and sufficient for said purposes. This is especially crucial if you want to eat in the room, which is otherwise not allowed, as we have been told.
- The owner is very nice and accommodating.
- The bed is sufficiently big and comfortable, despite being a hard mattress.
- Room is bigger than I expected and well decorated.

A few negatives:
- My main complaint was the paper thin walls. Even by hotel standards, the walls are exceptionally thin and you can hear other ppl going on about their business very clearly, including things best not heard. Luckily the guests are high profile and usually very quiet at night.
- The internet is a bit slow, but I dont know if it was so on ipads only or in general.
- (In relation of the first negative point above) The daily cleaning starts at the usual hour of 8-9 am, however I am a late sleeper and the paper thin walls made it impossible for me to sleep through the cleaning noises from other rooms.

Overall, if you are not a late riser and a light sleeper like I am, this hotel is indeed a little gem in comparison to most hotels in Cote D'azur.

Room Tip: There is no elevator, so take the first floor if you dont want to climb up all the stairs everyday...

Our four nights at Bon Repos were just perfect. Virginie is the most wonderful of hostesses and her staff are equally welcoming and helpful. Our room with view of St Tropez from the balcony was excellent and breakfast each morning in the garden under the shade of the pepper tree was the perfect way to start the day whilst the evening saw us enjoying a glass of wine there whilst we relaxed after a hard day enjoying the south of France and before dining at a nearby restaurant. Again, Virginie recommendations for dinner were spot on. We were sorry to bid farewell but will definitely return. One of the best hotels we have stayed in.

Room Tip: Lovely view of St Tropez from the balcony of our first floor room. Ground floor have a small garden...

I am a travel consultant in New York with an award-winning travel business. My wife and I stayed at Hotel Royal Bon Repos May 31 - June 4, 2014. Virginie is an angel!!!! The hotel is impeccable, the service is surely 5 star. This is a little hotel tucked away into the beautiful streets of Saint-Maxime. The hotel is a perfect location mere steps to the beach and bustling shopping/restaurant area. Everything you need is within walking distance. The ferry to St. Tropez is only a 15 minute ride and you can walk to the ferry.

I had a huge problem with Europcar and Virginie was extremely helpful in getting me in touch with them (at the Nice airport) and spoke to the representative for me (as I do not speak French, but working on rectifying that)!

We met Virginie's husband, Conrad, and we all had drinks together out in the lovely courtyard of the hotel.

The number one position and 5 stars that Hotel Royal Bon Repos has received on tripadvisor.com is absolutely warranted and well worth the stay!

The hotel is right in the center of the town, close to the beach, a nice church, pedestrian areas with antique and farmers markets. We stayed in a room on the 2nd floor --quite a haul with the luggage... But worth it with a view of the Mediterranean from 2 balconies. Two choices of breakfast are very good, and the room has a very good coffee maker. Service is wonderful, you can't go wrong with hotel Bon repos!

From the time you arrive at this beautifully appointed hotel, you can tell that it is special.
You are fingerprinted as a means of access.
There is a delightful welcoming gift of very good taste on the bed that you have been shown to by the most accommodating staff.
The location is perfect for visiting the town and the beaches and Virginia and her staff are forthcoming with top quality restaurants at reasonable prices.
And then breakfast.
At 13 euro per person it is a the high end but the garden setting and freshness of the food soon make you forget the cost.
I wish we had more than one night. In fact, consider skipping Saint Tropez as a destination. Stay here and do the boat trip to Saint Tropez.
Thank you Virginia. We will tell our friends.

It has all been said before on Tripadvisor, but it certainly is all true - this is a most well run hotel, presided over by Victorie - who is extremely professional.
Our room was as we requested, on the ground floor. We would have liked an upstairs room with a view, but alas the hotel does not have an elevator, and we had heavy baggage.
The room was large, beautifully clean, with a large terrace. Bed was king size and very comfortable with good airconditioning and an up-to-the-minute bathroom.
French breakfast on the terrace in the sun was such a pleasure.
There is parking on-site for an extra charge, but well worth having the vehicle behind locked gates.
The hotel boasts fingerprint recognition for the front door and also for the carpark - very innovative and not something we have experienced previously.
There are many fantastic restaurants nearby - we recommend Mamma Mia which is up the hill and around to the left (turn left at the icecream van) The seafood risotto was wonderful.
All in all, a wonderful stay and one we hope we can repeat in the future.
It has been mentioned in other postings, but you certainly need a GPS to find the hotel - it is tucked away off the street in a small alleyway - however because of it its situation it is very quiet.

Room Tip: If you have heavy baggage, ask for the ground floor - think there are five rooms.
