Loved everything about L'Escalinade. The hosts John and John were wonderful and made us feel very welcome. Such a relaxing place with great views. Received a lovely welcome from Ronnie every morning to take us to breakfast, which were delicious and the perfect start to the day. Fresh croissants, bread and pain au chocolat, yoghurt, delicious preserves made especially by Joan and the freshest fruit and delicious goat's cheese. Coffee was very good. All served on the terrace with beautiful views. What more can you want on holiday. We will definitely stay again if we return to Ste Maxime.

“A very special place!”

Looking for the right place to stay on the French Riviera was a nightmare, including choosing which resort in which to stay. However having spent 5 nights here, I can honestly say that we definitely made the right choice. What a gorgeous place this is!

The owners Joan and John and their daughter Melissa are the most helpful, charming and generous hosts you could possibly hope to have. Joan and Melissa, even before arriving, could not have been more helpful responding to my numerous emails with lots of questions. Then, upon arrival, we were greeted with a few gorgeous bottles of the local rose & canapes and within minutes we felt relaxed and truly at home!

What made our stay even more memorable was Ronnie, their wonderful Boxer dog. What a legend he is. He arrived on the guest terrace every morning to let us know that breakfast was served and accompanied us downstairs like the perfect host that he is! So sweet natured and intelligent, an absolute delight!

Ste Maxime is, in our opinion, the nicest resort on the Cote d'Azur. And L'Escalinade is in the best possible spot here - just 2 mins walk from the restaurants, gorgeous shops and marina but set high up with extensive grounds so you really do feel secluded. If rest and relaxation is what your after, you will absolutely find it here! The views have to be seen to be believed and the photos on TA do not do this place justice at all!

Free wi-fi is available throughout the entire property. There are 3 rooms for guests, all accessed by a private entrance. Rooms 1 and 2 are set at the front of the property with a large shared balcony, whilst room 3 is just around the corner and has indirect access to a very large guest terrace with very impressive views and lovely furniture. The rooms are cosy, simply furnished and very pretty, with extremely comfortable beds and pillows, a hairdryer, fridge and lovely powerful showers. I rarely sleep well on holiday but I found it hard to get out of bed here!

Even though we never visit the same place twice, we absolutely adored Ste Maxime and L'Escalinade. So much so that we think it will be impossible not to visit again at some point in the next couple of years. Thank you so much Joan, John, Melissa and of course the wonderful Ronnie for making this holiday so special!

Central location to lovely town of Ste Maxime, yet quiet.
Very good air conditioned rooms-essential for July-August.
Wonderful, attentive hosts,
Sea view of Gulf of St Tropez to die for, especially at sun downer hour.
just the right sized pool

Great location to explore local area or just relax by pool with a book

This was our first visit and we most certainly will be returning! Joan, John and of course Ronnie the dog were perfect hosts! We arrived after a long journey to one of the most hospitable welcomes, and all throughout our stay we felt so relaxed and very welcomed! L'Escalinade is perfectly situated with amazing views over the bay and just a 5 minute walk to every amenity. There is a ferry every 15 minutes/24 hours a day which takes you across to St Tropez and for 2 people who speak very little French we had no problems at all getting by! Rooms were very clean, air conditioned and comfortable! Our room had its own fridge, lovely fluffy white towels and balcony.
We would recommend this to anyone and look forward to returning to L'Escalinade!

“'..and a fabulous time was had by all!'”

We're probably one of the old timers now who keep returning because we can't find anywhere else that even comes close to the standards and genuine warmth received at 'L'Escalinade'.
This year, we 'block booked' all the bedrooms as we travelled with our family to celebrate a special wedding anniversary and what a time we had! Joan, John and Ronnie welcomed us into their lovely home and ensured that we all had a fabulous time- Joan even made arrangements for a special lunch at 'Le Club 55' which is an unforgettable experience.
Much has been said, quite rightly, of the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms (fluffy towels and all), fresh breakfasts (scrumptious), location (superb) and nightly get-togethers over a bottle or two of rose (who's counting?). But the real joys here are the charm, friendliness and hospitality of Joan, John and Ronnie. Nothing is too much trouble and they succeed in making you feel really special. Thank you all, once again, for another amazing stay x.
If you're looking for somewhere to stay, your search ends here- this is the place to be.
You've read all the reviews by now- so, what are you waiting for? Get booking- it's pointless looking anywhere else and start planning for a wonderful time!

Our expectations were high for L'Escalinade and we were not disappointed! John, Joan and Ronnie are wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble. It felt like we were on holiday with friends :)

L'Escalinade is situated close to the town centre with parking on site, a beautiful swimming pool and a fabulous view over the bay. The rooms were lovely and comfortable, with full sized fridges in each, a terrace and beautiful fluffy towels in the bathroom :) Ronnie arrived each morning to escort us to a lovely breakfast. We hope to be back very soon - thanks for a wonderful break!

The ambience was great!!
Joan and John were fantastic hosts
Ronnie the boxer dog was so gentle that even my 86.5 year old mum who generally is scared with dogs was in love with him by the end of the 6 days
I actually cannot believe that the views could be beaten as the Gulf of St Tropez was stunning
Early evenings drinking fizzy as the sun lost its strength were marvellous
Five minutes down the hill and you are in the centre of Ste Maxime
We shall return!!
