We booked the Petit Prince on a recommendation from Gay Provence website for my birthday as we were on a tour of Southern France. Checked in and were greeted by 2 lovely guys Francois and Patrick, who immediately made us feel welcome, the room was a good size with a corner aspect view of the sea and St.Tropez beyond. The room was OK although the AC didn't seem to work which meant the room was very hot and airless and there was bird mess over the balcony but other than that it was quite nice.
We were travelling with our small dog and when we went to breakfast were told she could not be in the restaurant so we sat outside in the garden, the person serving breakfast wasn't very welcoming or friendly to us but laughed and chatted with the French guests, however we are quite used to this kind of thing, the fact it was my birthday I chose to ignore this.
That night we had booked my favourite restaurant and were getting ready, my partner called down to reception to ask for an iron and was met with a very unhelpful lady who demanded he come down stairs, he asked politely if someone could bring the iron up as we were in the process of getting ready. She then called back and I answered and she told me quite unapologetically that there was no iron!! Now this purports to be a 3 star hotel, yet they had no iron and no way of getting one.
I was understandably upset as all I had ironed was an old polo shirt which i had already worn being 5 days into the vacation, everything else was in the case and needed ironing so I had to go out to my special birthday dinner looking like an unkempt tramp.
To add insult to injury we saw the same woman the following day and she breezily announced that there was now an iron to use, I replied it wasn't much good now but she seemed unconcerned.
When we checked out, we noted a 30 Euro surcharge for the dog (she is immaculately clean and tiny and was not left in the room at any point) we queried this as when we booked I am fairly sure that the dog was included but he insisted it wasn't, if we had known this at the outset the dog would have been sat in the breakfast room, on a chair with a napkin round her neck tucking into the buffet breakfast which was OK but not worth the 10 Euro price tag.
All in all this stay was the only low point in the otherwise great holiday, a general lack of care and customer service overshadowed the good service from the initial staff we met and I feel that they need to focus more on ensuring the happiness of the guests rather than wafting around with noses in the air.
The hotel is however well situated a stones throw from the sea front, a tad noisy if you have the patio door open as there is a main road with lorries thundering by but a convenient location if you have business or pleasure planned in St Tropez.
In conclusion, this is in our opinion a 2-3 star hotel charging 3-4 star prices, not very impressed!
