“Disappointing”
Reviewed 17 July 2013

This hotel in my opinion lacks poor management skills. We booked at least 12 months prior to arrival a Superior room overlooking the swimming pool. When we arrived we were shown to a ground floor small out of date room with an unkept garden. When we queried this back at reception we were told the room was a superior room.???..because of our persistence we were found another superior room...much larger with a full balcony and on the 1st floor overlooking the pool... brilliant. We were told later that all rooms with either a balcony or small grill are classified as superior rooms ????? On the last day we were asked to move to another room ...still with a pool view but a great deal smaller....the tariff for both rooms remained the same. Our check out bill was incorrect with items added but no verification signed bills??? ....pool side towels are charged at 3 euro for the duration of your stay. The towels in the room were small ...Breakfast was OK but not very special ....Dinner in the evening was better....overall the service was humble and adequate....The gardens were scrubby with lots of ants especially around the pool area.

Room Tip: Rooms classified as Superior are not always superior.

We stayed at this hotel in June after reading very good reports on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed. The location is brilliant for us as we enjoy walking and the walk into Ste Maxime along the sea front is delightful (about 20 mins). We also needed car parking of which there was plenty.

On arrival we were shown to an adequate room overlooking the pool with partial sea view but it was located above the restaurant and bar area. Anticipating that there could be some noise we asked to move to a quieter part of the hotel. This request was immediately and politely dealt with and we were offered another room which we were delighted with, room 254.

The room was small but the view towards St Tropez, across the bay, was fabulous and more than made up for the compact room which for us was not a problem at all. We had a lovely balcony and as we were on the top floor the room proved to very quiet. The bathroom was well equipped and spacious.

We didn't eat at all in the hotel as we preferred to take breakfast and our evening meal in Ste Maxime itself where there is an abundance of great restaurants. Or, we often took the short foot ferry ride across to St Tropez of Port Grimaud. This actually proved to us what a great location the hotel is in.

The pool was lovely and there seemed to be plenty of sun-loungers and umbrellas for all (we were there before the schools broke up for Summer).

Our two points of criticism are that there is no bar service around the pool, drinks were available at the bar in the hotel but it would have been super if we could have had drinks and snacks served by the pool, we were also not able to have lunch inside the hotel (not even a sandwich). July/August maybe different. Our other minor problem was with the wi-fi which wasn't great, our only means of gaining access was to sit out on the balcony, which given the view wasn't that bad!!

A lovely hotel we will certainly return and would request room 254 (or 253/255).

Room Tip: Rooms 253 - 254 - 255 compact rooms but with fabulous view and in quiet part of the hotel.

We found Les Jardins via tripadvisor however were still pleasantly surprised to find a hotel that was better than our expectations. We had a lovely (albeit small and a bit dated room) on the ground floor, we had a nice garden outside our room which we could enjoy straight from the patio windows in our room. The pool and terrace were great and we spent some enjoyable time there.

The staff were extremely helpful and professional. The wifi wasn't the best but at least it was free.

We chose this hotel after reading many reviews and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was a reasonable size, with a balcony looking onto the pool area and, further away, out over the sea. Facilities at the hotel are excellent, with a large pool with plenty of loungers. We had brilliant weather, so didn't need to use the indoor pool. Breakfast, although fairly expensive at 13.5 Euros, was a great way to start the day, eating on the terrace each morning, with a good selection of fresh and plentiful food. We didn't have dinner at the hotel, but the menu looked reasonably varied, and prices didn't appear unduly excessive. Staff were unfailingly polite and helpful.

The only negative comments I would make concern the lack of a fridge in the rooms, a comment which appears on a lot of reviews and something which would, I'm sure, be appreciated by clients. The hotel was further from the centre of Sainte Maxime than we had anticipated and barely within walking distance, so a car really is essential.

Pleasant stay, on a hill above the coastline and the Sainte-Maxime Botanical Garden. Mostly elderly couples, but that is what makes it great for relaxation. The room with view over the pool and sea was great, you can watch the sunrise from your bed. 20 minutes away from the center of Sainte-Maxime (for a young couple) Breakfast is richer than the average french breakfast, offering omelet and bacon along with the usual croissant, jam and yoghurt.

Room Tip: Rooms with pool view are great, you can watch sunrise.

It is ok. The pool is nice. But it is 3 stars.... No one to help you with your lugagge and sometimes the cleaning was poor. No room service at all. But I Think maybe it is ok for the price given the expensive rates in this area.
The bed in the double room was too small
Parking included. Wi fi - bad- but included also.
Went to a much better hotel near Nice for the same money, or less....

This is an ok three star hotel with a beautiful pool area and a nice view from the pool side rooms on the second (which is the highest) floor. The Front Office staff was very friendly and helpful and the free parking is a plus if you travel by car. Location wise, so is the fact that you can take a boat from Saint Maxime to Saint Tropez if you want to go there and avoid the traffic (which can be absolutely horrible in and out of Saint Tropez).

However, some details took down the satisfaction of our stay - the quality of the third bed in our Pool Side Triple Room with Terrace (more adequate for a child than an adult), the lack of smiles among the breakfast staff and the fact that there is a charge for the use of towels for the pool area (only 3 EUR/person, but it is not about the money, just the annoyance of doing it).

Room Tip: Second floor with pool view to see the sea
