“Awesome stay”
Reviewed 29 May 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Luc, thank you for making our stay in Provence so memorable.
Thank you for helping us find the store in Nice where we found a century-old French violin for Paloma. She will cherish it always.
Thank you for helping us find La Boutique Obut and the Boules Museum in Vallauris where Ed found the set of boules to take home. He will have the nicest boules in California.
Thank you for introducing us to La Colombe d'Or. Our dinner was magnifique!
Thank you for letting us play with Wookie - according to Paloma the best dog ever!
Thank you for the fresh croissants every morning. What a wonderful way to start each day!
Thank you for all the fruit, wine, cheese, coffee, ham, foie gras and all the other food in the refrigerator.
Thank you for a bathroom with instant hot water and lots of water pressure.
Thank you for taking us to the Wednesday market, and for the tour of Saint Paul.
Thank you for the French fries that took you two days to make. They were the best fries we have ever tasted.
And most of all, thank you for the welcome and hospitality that you showed to all of us. You have taught us a lot about how to be a great host! We sincerely hope that you will be able to visit us in California.

“A particular experience”

Maison aux bonsais is a small apartment within the walls of St Paul. It is full of design features, and is of a good standard. Assuming you wish to stay within the walls, it is an excellent option. It is arguable to me that it is necessary or desirable to do so however as there really isn't that much to see or do, and the restaurants within the walls are ordinary at best. the views are spectacular however.

the property comes with parking which again is useful if you need it

Luc is an ever present host, and is never far away. His constant presence will be a godsend for some people, and if you are looking for a knowledgeable local you will appreciate this. Others might find it intrusive, it's all in the eye of the beholder.

Liked best: the location and the fridge was kindly stocked with some basic provisions.
Liked least: the property was not ready when we arrived, and all sorts of clearly untrue excuses were offered (americans who wouldn't leave, who broke this, and broke that). a more sober cleaner might have turned it around quicker.

“Stunning location and an exceptional host who exceeded all expectations, and lived up to all the wonderful reviews.”

Luc Tombeur was an exceptional host who really added to our enjoyment of the 2 weeks spent in St Paul. He thoroughly deserves his loyal following and all the acolades in previous reviews. The apartment reflects his own charming character, both of which were at the heart of this attractive village. We highly recommend it.

We spent 5 days in the exquisitely appointed Gingko apartment. This accommodation surpassed all of our expectations, including a spray of flowers, fresh fruit, food and wine to begin our or visit. Croissants and Baguettes were personally delivered by Luc at 9am each morning. With extra maps and brochures for the days adventure. And of course Wookie, the town doggie mascot was there to great us each day with his clever smile. Luc took us on a tour of the walled city and we learned more than if we had hired a special guide. Everything you read here is absolutely true. Unparalleled hospitality in a class of its own. You would not want to miss this extraordinary opportunity!

“a magical village”

I was on a personal "soul vacation" looking for inspiration and relaxation, and Maison aux Bonsais far surpassed all of my expectations. The Ginkgo suite was the perfect size, at half the cost of a hotel room, and yet provided unquantifiable value to my stay. From rustic stone floors to arched doorways to antique decorations, the look and feel of the property holds true to the medieval origins of the village, but also has touches of modern art and (more importantly) modern conveniences. Luc, the owner, is a gracious and generous host who does everything imaginable to make your stay perfect - fresh flowers, fresh fruit, locally baked croissants every morning, stocked kitchen and bath, personal tour of the village, etc. St Paul de Vence is a magical place, and every day I wandered about finding new treasures around every corner. At the end of a beautiful day, Maison aux Bonsais was the perfect place to rest and prepare for the next day's adventure!

To wake up in Saint Paul de Vence as the sun is rising and walk the narrow streets gives you a strong connection to this magical village. Sounds an smells of a small community waking up to greet a new day!
The accommodation is Art in itself. A centuries old setting with modern conveniences. A perfect host who really makes the stay more a one of kind experience. This is not just a place to sleep. You will fall asleep easily perhaps with the windows open wide and a view of the starry sky. No mosquitoes! Wake up to hot Pain Chocolat or Croissants. As the days and nights tick by you have to prepare yourself for the inevitable. The hardest part of staying in one of these suites is leaving. But you will feel gifted to have had the experience and have met Luc. Enjoy!

Luc is a Perfect Host. He is a very kind, gentle and generous man. The location is wonderful and the accommodation is luxurious and somewhere that you just do not want to leave. We have stayed with Luc two times now and would be back tomorrow if possible.
