Better then a 5 star hotel. Great location, impeccable service, delicious breakfast (with a different touch every morning). The rooms are very clean and spacious with all the amenities. The owners are very kind and helpful in all aspects. Book a room there and you won't regret it.

Le Mas du Chanoine is the nicest B&B you can find on the cote d'azur. My wife and I went there for a long weekend with our three kids. Le Mas du Chanoine is located only 10 minutes away from St. Paul de Vence on the top of a hill with a nice view. The nicely refurbished very old building happened to be a horse station in former times. The rooms are quite spacious and elegant. The building is surrounded by a huge garden with pool. Pascale and her husband Eve, the owners, only have three rooms, accordingly the place is quiet and relaxing. The breakfast is outstanding, as Pascale prepares everything fresh each morning, fresh orange juice, self made croissants, self made marmalade, .. you name it. Both make you feel comfortable and at home from the first moment and this fantastic B&B had its share that we had a fantastic weekend. They also gave us good advices on museums and excursions. The restaurants Pascale recommended were excellent, they called and made reservations. Everything was easy. THANK YOU TO BOTH OF YOU. We are already planning to be back next spring.

We stayed for the second time in Le Mas du Chanoine and again we had an excellent stay.
The owners are very friendly, flexible and helpfull.
We love the location, the room, the pool, an amazing view, ...
Every year some things are upgraded or renewed.
The breakfasts are top !! Pascale really deserves a Michelin star for the food she serves.
And Yves is always busy in the garden.
Top location!

I normally take #1 tripadvisor reviews with a pinch of salt. Le Mas du Chanoine has a faultless 5 star rating, which I initially thought unbelievable. However, I've stayed and can say that this place certainly deserves its full five stars and more. I would give it six stars if there's that option!

We pre-booked six months in advance because we didn't want to leave things to chance while travelling with a baby. Pascale was always prompt and very friendly with her responses, giving us all the detail we needed on the room size and amenities. She very kindly reserved the largest room with a bathtub and plenty of space for the cot and our bags, even reassuring us that there was the option of placing our bags elsewhere if needed. Pascale also made many recommendations for our dining options during our stay, and was very patient even though we changed our mind on a Michelin-starred place a week prior to the booking.

On arrival, we found the large house utterly charming. It is an old house with large rooms that are renovated tastefully with modern finishings. The grounds are beautiful, with fruit trees, rose bushes and typically Mediterranean plants all over. There's a heated swimming pool (though at 28 degrees Celsius, us folks from the equator still found it a bit chilly) which is cleaned daily. I envy Pascale's two boys, they seem to have the perfect environment for an idyllic childhood. There's even a zipline in the trees and a corner for boules/petanque.

There are mosquitoes in the whole of the south of France. Even Pascale's superhuman powers are sadly unable to obliterate them from the area. While there are indeed mosquitoes on the property, we weren't bitten because of the extensive efforts to address the issue. Pascale took care to plug in an anti-mosquito pellet every evening (she even checked that it was safe for baby). Every window has a mesh covering, and we were careful to open and shut the door quickly.

The rooms are very large and are indeed the size of suites. All credit to Pascale for taking our concerns on size without being dismissive. Everything was very well thought out, with a lovely tea tray containing all sorts of tea (caffeinated as well as herbal) plus biscuits and chocolate, a larger than usual bar fridge containing a large bottle of complimentary mineral water, and even lavender scenting the wardrobe. The king size bed was very comfortable.

Wifi was perfect, with a wireless router just for the room. We didn't watch TV, even though we had plans to! The bathroom was very well renovated, with a walk-in shower and a separate bath tub. I loved the excellent modern bathroom fittings from Grohe (if I recall correctly).

Pascale provided incredibly well for our baby. Aside from the cot and bedding, she also provided a cute traditional baby sleep bag. There was also an excellent baby change station that we wanted to take home with us. Pascale very kindly provided us with details on the shop to buy one for ourselves and gave very clear directions how to get there. She also provided a babysitter at a very reasonable rate (paid directly to the babysitter) that she herself uses for her own children for two nights when we went out for dinner. She also reassured us that she herself would be in and would call if anything. We had complete peach of mind on our two precious nights out without baby.

Breakfast was lovely. It was in a courtyard against an ivy-covered wall. Breakfast was continental - with yogurt, fruit, baguette and other baked goods, mainly home made. The yogurt was lovely and also homemade, as were the various preserves, which never repeated. One day we had madeleines, almond Danishes, wild blueberry jam and homemade apricot jam. Another day it was pancakes, pain au chocolate, cherry jam and marmalade. Four days of breakfast and nothing was repeated. Our baby wasn't forgotten either. A sturdy high chair was provided, and Pascale also pureed some fruit for baby.

Testament to Pascale's eye for detail include noticing what tea we drank from the tea tray and refilling extra of those flavours for our tea tray, leaving pool towels in our room when they were out for the afternoon just in case we wanted a swim, and providing a swim float as well as a little plastic tub and bath thermometer for baby.

We haven't forgotten Pascale's husband, Yves, who was also incredibly friendly and loved to chat with us at breakfast. He told us the best place to get Mariage Freres tea (yes, they serve the king of teas at breakfast, bettering some five star hotel chains). While Pascale is the face of Le Mas and handles things in the house, Yves seems to handle all the gardening and pool maintenance. If you're lucky, you may be able to hear him practise the saxophone in the afternoon.

The only thing that marred the trip was that my husband suffered from a stomach bug; this was no fault of Le Mas. But if you have to take ill during a trip to the south of France, it'd better be here. Pascale did what she could to make him feel better. It is a credit to the homey atmosphere - another guest who was a pharmacist offered some medication, which helped him feel better. Pascale, as always, helped with the translation.

This place is incredibly well run. Pascale keeps a very tight ship by providing service that is friendly, almost telepathic, but never creepily over-attentive or obsequious . I don't know how she does it. Amazing. This place is excellent value for money, especially considering that it is the south of France. I wish I could go back year after year!

A note about the location - this place is in the hills close to St Paul de Vence and there are winding roads. Having a car is essential. It is a countryside place yet within 30 minutes of Cannes and Nice, and about an hour away from Monaco. Roads are narrow in the area, so it would be best to take as small a car as you can if unfamiliar with driving on the right side of the road plus handling the narrow passageways. Parking at Le Mas is secure, within the compound. Access is from a side gate, and you will need the code from them. Call ahead so you have the code and don't have to double back from the main entrance.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mas du Chanoine. Pascale and Yves are wonderful people and gracious hosts. The room was well appointed, impeccably clean and very comfortable. We travelled with our 12 year old daughter and they provided a cot which was also very comfortable. The room was spacious even with the extra bed. The pool was refreshing after a hot day of sightseeing and it was great to relax in the lounge chairs. Breakfasts were delicious and included Pascale's homemade yogurt and jams as well as different items every day. Pascale and Yves gave spot-on recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing ideas and have a good selection of maps and travel guides to assist.
There were many special touches provided by Pascale and Yves that show how much they care. They really made my birthday there a special memory.
We highly recommend the Mas de Chanoine!

We stayed for three nights in this beautiful small B&B. The rooms are spacious and very nicely decorated. We had a room on the ground floor with a nice garden in front. The garden is perfectly maintained, with various kinds of fruit trees. The breakfast is superb, with freshly baked pastry, and jam prepared by the lady of the house with the fruits of the garden. Very nice swimming pool with a nice view on the valley. Very friendly owners. Perfectly located, not too far from the coast.

This most attractive B & B offered clean and comfortable accommodation. We could find no fault at all. Pascale and Yves were superb hosts going out of their way to assist us. Their garden is beautiful and a delightful place to relax at the end of a tiring day of touring the beautiful countryside in the vicinity. We have the happiest memories of our three days at this well run B & B.

Dear Jill and John,
Your kind message encourages Yves to continue to take care of our mediterranean garden. After spring flowers that you have seen, it is now roses, agapanthes, lavender that bloom. The cicadas are singing in the pine over the swimmingpool.
Best regards,
