“Awesome property”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

This was an amazing property. The grounds, although small are meticulously maintained with beautiful and complimentary artwork. The staff are attentive and very accommodating to your needs. Due to its location a car is a necessity. Also, our room (underneath the restaurant) lacked soundproofing as the clack of high heels and guests steps were clearly audible in our room. Fortunately, we did not discover this until the night before we were scheduled to leave. That said the property offers excellent value for the money in a private setting with an amazing restaurant. Although the restaurant is highly recommended, I suggest you skip breakfast at the hotel because you have more options for much less in St. Paul down the road.

Room Tip: Request a room on a higher floor.

Very nice and cozy hotel, a little hard to find but worth the effort, very attentive staff, dinner excellent, breakfast buffet, with enough choices, rooms are awesome, and again the surroundings worth every penny. Will come back soon .

This was the best hotel we stayed in France in its price range. The facilities are fantastic and the hotel feelslike a spa. The room and the bathroom were very nice. We were provided with bathrobes and slippers, and lots of fluffy towels, which was a nice change as compared to any other hotels. Absolutely to be recommended. Great value.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a patio.

Positives:
- warm and friendly welcoming
- great, helpful and dedicated staff (especially at the front desk)
- great location and great rooms

Negatives:
- housekeeping services inconsistent (although rooms were cleaned daily housekeeping lacked attention to details: never replenished shower gel, did not provide with requested extra towels, etc)
- rooms are noisy in peak times (you can hear everything from the corridor and the rooms next door)
- elevator to the rooms smelled like cat urine

Generally a very good place but with some improvements it could be an outstanding place!! Avoid peak times for a truly quiet and resourcing stay.

We came to the hotel via a coupon from Groupon. We were well received and the room was good although the bathroom could have used a better cleaning. We had access to the spa and enjoyed a lazy afternoon by ourselves as there weren't many people in the hotel. In the groupon deal dinner was included. We were a little disappointed by the service provided at dinner for a 4* hotel and restaurant in the guide Michelin. We ordered drinks before dinner and didn't receive any hors d'oeuvre or amuse bouche. The dinner in itself was very good but we were surprised that they didn't change our cutlery in between courses. We ordered a bottle of wine from the menu then was informed they just sold the last bottle, odd as we ordered a bottle that was pretty generic and I would have thought they'd have stock. There were four tables in the restaurant that night and I would have thought we'd be given a bit more attention. Breakfast was also included in the groupon deal and it was great. Usually they offer a buffet but since there weren't many people at the hotel we were able to order what we wanted and I think we had a better deal that way. Overall a nice night away, with just a little more effort to be done at the restaurant.

The hotel is very nice, lovely gardens, big sofas in the lounge area, a spa if needed, pool, etc, but a little sterile, & as other reviewers have stated, difficult to find ,even with Sat Nav. The reception staff were all very sweet, the bedroom large, comfy & clean. We ate there the first night & it took ages to receive the menu, we were out of season & the dining room was a quarter full, we had the day's set menu, which turned out to be really superb, we had 2 bottles of an excellent Cote du Rhone, & thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Breakfast, served up to 11am, was buffet style, nicely presented, with a good selection of hot & cold.
The hotel is odd, in that it doesn't seem to be aimed at any clientele in particular, there were a bunch of teenagers running around while we were there, the odd businessman, the couples & families on late breaks..it didn't seem to gel together.

Stayed for two nights last week. It was quite difficult to find - our SatNav got us lost and sent us the wrong way to it through the forest. It is in a lovely peaceful location, but it is about 2kms outside of St. Paul-de-Vence. Friendly check-in, Receptionist spoke English but let us speak in French. Room allocated was on the lower ground floor, with a view of the tennis court, furthest away from Reception even though hotel was less than 10% occupied - can't understand why they do this!

Bearing in mind this hotel has only been re-opened in its current format for just 6 months, there are obviously some problems. The designer has done a fantastic job - lovely use of colour and a streamlined look. However, there have obviously been issues with plumbing and tiling in bathrooms as there were a lot of damp patches on walls where there have been leaks and these have not been rectified. Bed was very comfortable - although why the need for a 13 tog duvet on the bed in the Cote d'Azur in early September? Bathroom - issues with damp, floor not clean, and mould growing already in the shower. There was a lovely swimming pool, with plenty of towels and sun chairs provided but the pool was not heated and was absolutely freezing even in the 28 degree heat.

We ate a very nice dinner in the Restaurant on the first night, which was gourmet style, 5 courses for 39 Euros per person. Extensive wine list, a bit on the pricey side, but not exorbitant. We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel as we felt the charge of 18 Euros per person to be excessive - instead drove down into St. Paul and have 2 Coffees and 2 Pains au Chocolat for 7 Euros total!! We're not cheap-skates but 18 Euros for a buffet breakfast - no way!!

Really think this place will struggle as its location is rather remote, it isn't cheap, and, they need to get on top of their maintenance issues.
