It was our Ruby wedding anniversary on 1st July and as we were very familiar with Frejus / St Raphael in the south of France having previously owned a mobile home there for sixteen years, we decided to treat our two adult children to a long weekend in the area. So via an eighty minute, ontime flight to Nice and a hire car we made our way to the Auberge Provencale at Le Dramont, just to the east of St Raphael. I chose it unseen, as it seemed reasonable value and rustic. We had to book as far back as September last year as rooms for the season were going fast.
On arrival, which is a little tricky to find, we found a quaint and rustic two star hotel with buckets of charm. We were met by the owner, a middle aged guy who speaks no - I mean no English. Even so we managed with our bits of French and much gesticulating to be shown our rooms. Ours was small, comfortable for our short stay, shower, sink, air conditioning, very comfortable double bed, telephone and enough storage. It is not five star but spotlessly clean and even has free WIFi. The weather was scorching so the outside eating area at breakfast was superb. Croissants, rolls, jams, juice, butter and coffee or hot chocolate.
There is free car parking ten metres across the very quiet road.
I make this a four star rating based on whatis offered and expected for the money paid. I would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: My daughter did not have air conditioning, so specify that.

When I booked a room for friends last summer, I had no opportunity to see any room as they were all occupied. When I saw the room where my friends were staying I found out that there was an unpleasant musty smell and the window could not be opened at night because anyone might have entered. There was no wardrobe but just a corner hidden by a curtain with several moisture spots. The owner is a very kind person and the price was cheap (about 65 euros per night). The location is romantic, at a walking distance from the sea, and a free parking is available. Perhaps a different room might have been much better.

We arrived at the hotel very late in the night. The owner was nice enough to stay awake and greet us. The room and attached bathroom was clean and had a decent shower. The view from our window was wonderful.

We were greeted in the morning with freshly baked croissant, fruit, orange juice and fresh brewed coffee. The garden where we had our breakfast was lush green with flowers all around. It was definately one of the best breakfasts that we had during our travel to France.

Would definately recommend this budget hotel.

This is the ideal location for visitors looking for great scenery, superb French breakfasts ,in a place where French is spoken in a friendly quiet environment. The beaches are close and there are beautiful walks to major attractions and a great train service to cater for trips to surrounding districts. The beach at La Dramont is stony, but the water was clear, clean and warm.
We were here for four days and would happily return for a longer sojourne.

This is a good budget hotel, in a very pleasant area. The service from the Proprietor is excellent - from a great breakfast to general customer assistance and flexibility.
Stay here with confidence.

Le Dramont, where this place is situated is a nice little village. The train station is small though, with no ticket office, just a shelter on each side. The room I stayed in was comfortable with a view out into the parklands with fantastic smelling eucalyptus trees. The place is quite old though & you can really tell this from the noises the plumbing makes when you use the toilet, hand basins & shower. Not great when your "neighbours" decide to take showers at 6.30 in the morning! Otherwise staff were great & very friendly. Breakfast in the garden was lovely. There's also a great pizza place down by the beach that's worth a mention.
