Best Western Castel' Provence

The hotel is hard to find, so print a phone number or map directions before you leave. The hotel is set in lovely grounds and first impressions are great. But it appears not much money has been spent on the hotel for some years. We stayed in a duplex room by the pool. The rooms are ok, not huge, with a queen bed up some very narrow stairs and a single downstairs and a nice balcony with great views. The location is country and you will need a car but we used it as a base to go to St Tropez and Grasse.

We stayed here with my brother and his family for a family wedding last month. We were mortified when we saw the place - the photographer needs a knighthood for doing such a flattering job on this place.

My brothers family 'duplex' was so awful they were almost in tears. It was hot, small, rickety stairs and no more than a 1-2 star standard by any stretch of the imagination. We had to complain and ask for them to get moved - and then we encountered the manageress. Not a pleasant lady.

Our 'superior' room was OK, but it had a terrible smell about it - a mix of fags and damp. Never again.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel - unless desperate!

1. Seems like it's close to Cannes? It's a 30 min drive on slow winding roads, and a 50 euro taxi cost, each way. If you drive yourself, you WILL get lost because you pass a hundred confusing rotaries.
2. Dogs were barking all night, couldn't sleep.
3. Rooms very old, the hotel itself 3 star quality at best.

The pictures are very deceiving. We booked a four night stay, but left the next morning.

We stayed six nights in this hotel for a golf holiday and we have been totally satisfied. Nice location, good service and a great relax. The rooms are nice and big with a small terrace which is a very nice plus. From this hotel you can easily reach the most beautiful locations in Coté Azur like Cannes, Antibes, NIce, etc. The small village of Valbonne is really near. We'll get back!

This small hotel just outside Valbonne is very comfortable and clean. My bedroom had a little balcony, and a good ensuite bathroom with separate WC. The reception staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. There is a small pool with a reasonable amount of sun-loungers. A bit of expenditure on furnishings and styling would easily upgrade this into a proper "boutique" hotel.

We stayed here for 2 days in July. 2 adults and 1 child 8 y.o. We felt that we got good value for money on this hotel. Free wifi in all rooms with enough speed. Good beds and bathroom. Very nice garden and pool area. You will need a car in this hotel, because it,s too far to walk to Valbonne or other cities. 3 restaurants within walking distance. No restaurant in the hotel. Only minus is the breakfast that costs extra and is not good. A perfect place for families with children.

Very nice hotel, lovely building and pool surrounds.
Room was nice, with sunny balcony and very comfortable bed, clean white sheets and towels. The bathroom had toiletries provided as well as toothbrush/paste, shaver and cream, lotions, soaps etc - added bonus.
The hotel is a little out of Valbonne and too far to walk at night. Also no street lighting this far out.
Not much to say negatively....no coffee facilities in the room and the carpet was a little marked/dirty but not badly. We asked for wine but they didn't have any...they did however have spirits and cool drinks.
We'd definitely go back.
