When I first came to Valbonne in 1984, there were 4 tables outside the Cafe des Arcades...Nowadays dining on the Place des Arcades in August is quite a challenge. The kitchens of the 4 restaurants are obviously not expandable and to serve hundreds of guests the quality of the food has to suffer. So lower your expectations and don't expect great gastronomy. We came for a family dinner and the Auberge Provencale makes great Nice style pizzas (very thin crust). Last night we were told the pizza oven doesn't work and we ordered the plats du jour with the house wine. Was ok but the vegetables were not better than in England...Desserts are great.
