On our hike along Offa's Dyke Path we stayed in a number of nice B&Bs, but this one was by far the nicest of them all! It started with the very friendly and efficient communication when I booked the room and continued with the exceptional hospitality of Judith and Oliver when we got there: My friend had some trouble with her feet so our hiking day was growing very long and burdensome and when we called Judith she "rescued" us from the path, saving us the last stretch. At the house we were welcomed with delicious cake and everything was done with such warmth, without ever being even the slightest bit overbearing. In short: Judith and Oliver are ideal hosts.
The cottage itself is furnished and decorated with wonderful taste and great attention to detail, so that it has a very luxurious feel after a long day of hiking. We enjoyed it immensely as our B&B for one night, but with the nice kitchen and very comfy sitting room it would also make a great destination for a longer stay in the area and we sincerely wish we can come back one day!

Having chosen to walk Offa's Dyke from the north, Ty Newydd-Y-Llwyn was the first B&B on our trip and our stay was a truly lovely experience. Oliver was kind enough to pick up our bags in Prestatyn before we set out on the walk, and when we arrived the cottage was warm, comfortable and very attractive. Judith and Oliver are incredibly helpful and friendly, and prepared the perfect breakfast to set us up for the next day's walking after a very good night's sleep. We look forward to returning, hopefully for a longer stay!

Just got home from a lovely stay at this cottage. We booked the trip last minute and I'm really glad we did. The house is cosy and clean, but it's also full of stylish touches so that it feels like a special spot rather than another self-catering cottage. The owners are a big part of this because they are so friendly and did everything they could to make sure we were happy - like setting the fire for us to enjoy after our long drive up from London. The other special thing about the house is the glorious view. And you can climb up the hill behind the house for an even better panorama out to the sea and Snowdonia. Loved it. Many thanks.

I am writing this review after completing the entire Offa's Dyke Path. And I can say with certainty, after staying in a dozen other B&B's on our journey, that Ty Newydd-Y-Llwyn is at the top of the list. Being walkers themselves, Judith & Oliver understand the needs of their walking and hiking clientele. We were tired, hungry, WET and MUDDY. Judith met us at the door of the charming cottage with delicious tea and cakes. There was a "mud room" where we could hang our wet clothing without spreading dirt about the spotless cottage. Most importantly, there was a constant heat source (radiators and fireplaces) available where we were able to COMPLETELY dry our shoes and other wet items. This was a luxury I didn't come to appreciate until later in our walk, as many other B&B's promised "drying facilities" but actually didn't have them. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was lovely, and the entire accommodation was spotlessly clean as I mentioned earlier.
Judith provided one of the best breakfasts we had on the Path, and was even so kind as to offer to transport our luggage to our next B&B, at no cost, as she had an errand in that town the following day. I can't begin to thank Judith & Oliver enough for their thoughtfulness, attention to our every need, and last but not least, their friendly manner. Their B&B is perfect--whether you are doing a series of day walks or traveling through for just one night, as we were. Thank you so much, Judith and Oliver!

We walked the Offa's Dyke and booked for one night. The welcome, the accommodation, the evening meal, the breakfast were simply fantastic. Our hosts could not have been more friendly and helpful. The location for our needs was perfect. I shall definitely be returning for a longer stay!

What a glorious place with fantastic views/walks and so peaceful. Judith and Oliver are so welcoming and make every effort to make your time there extra special. You do require a car to get to places but the peacefulness and views are just so brilliant that it is lovely just to relax in the garden and watch all the butterflies etc. My family and I went to celebrate my parents 65th wedding anniversary and Judith had left a card, bottle of bubbly and one of her famous cakes to help us celebrate. I would recommend that everyone stays here as it is so brilliant, we had four days and would have enjoyed lots more!

Room Tip: This is more than a b&b more like a cottage to yourselves.

Four of us walking Offa's Dyke north. Llandegla to Bodfari is a LONG way, with hills!
We called ahead to say we'd be late. Met by Judith on the lookout for us.
Immediate serving of Eldeflower cordial, followed by tea and cake.
Then, because the local pub (0.8 miles away) had only a hog-roast, she cooked us an excellent meal.
All in the immaculate cottage she and Oliver have rebuilt.
Super-comfortable with lots of interesting books.
What more can we add? Ah yes, breakfast. Splendid.
