We were so looking forward to our stay in this hotel in Gordes and were prepared to lash out and treat ourselves. We booked Country Garden room 8 which was one of the lower priced options but still expected for over 300€ a night it should have been good. Well where do I start? About the only positive I could give it (apart from checking out) was the view, it was spectacular. The shower advertised on the Webb site was a hand held affair in the bath tub and both the large mirror and the towel rails were in a state of disrepair. The basin plugs didn't work and 1 basin didn't drain properly. None of the outside lights leading up the stairs or at the door worked, nor were they repaired when I asked. The lighting in the bedroom was insufficient to read by and there was no ceiling light. The balcony door in the bedroom didn't close and so we had to jam a case up against it to stop it banging.
The gardens are poorly maintained as it the garden furniture and indeed the crockery.
My advice is to visit Gordes and the stunning surrounds but.....find another hotel!

The staff are very friendly and efficent, on arrival we were helped with parking and unloading the car, reception formalities where completed very quickly and efficently. We had dinner in the restaurant which was excellant and probably one of the best during our holiday in Francs. There are good facilities at the hotel. The pool area is epecially nice. However for a 5* hotel the bathroom although quite large had only a hand shower, which ment that when taking a shower it is unavoidable to partially inundate the bathroom floor, also the silicon joints had not been taken care of and there were large gaps round the bath. Overall the bathroom could do with refurbishment to bring it up to standard. The shuttle service to Gorde is excellent, unfortunately it finishes at 6pm. We were told that Taxis are not easly available, which means it is impossible to go out at night without having to drive or a long walk, is not really acceptable.

This hotel is beautiful--that much is obvious. However, there is very much a huge management problem here. Though hotel now holds itself out as 5*, this is a colossal stretch. We have traveled extensively through France--staying at fine hotels and eating at 3* Michelin restaurants--an havent encountered the kind of distant, clumbsy and overall uninterested kind of service as we experienced everywhere here. So many issues with service--from the front desk to the wait staff at the restaurant--that it would take a novella to detail everything. (I.e., Michenlin starred restaurant where they forget orders, not offer us drinks before entrees, make us ask for a wine list, grab your wine out of your hand while pouring though they have not bothered to fill your glass in an hour, forgetting to offer you bread, and generally serve cuisine much trumped by the local bistros down the street). I will say, however, that everyone was generally nice enough -- just not as good or willing to do their jobs as their French or Provençal peers. That one has to fall on management, who could easily have these otherwise good people operating as they should be. I have no doubt this place could be 5*, but the lack of truly good service really takes it down a whole two pegs. If you're looking for a truly fine experience, look elsewhere. Money aside, time is valuable too, and ours was better spent outside the hotel grounds.

Excellent service and over the top tasting menu for dinner. You pay for what you get but well worth it. Room is good but not excellent. Shuttle to town is great but after a couple of hours Gordes is pretty much covered. The cycling is fantastic. Murs is a nice stop for lunch.

Room Tip: 5-8 are quite and not part of the main facility. Poor access thru the lobby to the pool from these r...

We spent 8 days in les bories in august 2011. Exceptional hotel, restaurant that should get a second star as soon as possible, even to our belgian standards. Very kind personnel, stunning surroundings. We are going back in may 2012 and if possible again in august 2012. And masochism is not our thing:-)

Room Tip: take le lys, and ask for the first floor if possible

A perfect stay !! Since our arrival the staff was very kind, the suitcases were in our room before we came in. High quality instalations, where you can enjoy an indoor swiming pool or to take sunbaths with a fabulous surrounding. The room was nice with lots of natural light and very nice bath amenities wich I personally like the brand "damana".

The location cant be better, and the garden in in perfect conditions. Brekfast was very good, specially the selections of cheese and the orange juice, really smooth and tasty.
We really enjoy dinner in a one star michellin star. Waiters, maitre and sumiller very profesional and food state of the art.
The prices were high, according to all this area of France.
