This is the most special B&B I have ever stayed at. That is all I am going to say… what makes it so magical should be a bit of a surprise… But it has everything to do with the owners. Mauro and Serge treat you as fellow travellers, not as clients. This was a serene ending to our trip. We feel lucky we had this experience.

We were totally overwhelmed by the tranquil beauty of this B & B and by the service provided by Mauro and Serge who went out of their way to provide assistance to us in finding their residence. They were also immensely helpful and well organised in finding restaurants for us so that we could experience different and wonderful French food. They even made the bookings for us.
The accommodation could not be faulted and it was a joy to return to the cool and quiet restfulness of the room together with its beautiful garden. We would recommend this place to anyone.
It was very easy to access public transport to the middle of town and the walk along the beach road to nearby restaurants was very beautiful.

Le Petit Jardin, Mauro & Serge ( the lovely hosts) will make you smile all day long! It is the best B&B we have ever stayed in...ever. And we travel a lot ;-D First you will get a warm smile and an informative welcome by Mauro (loaded with maps and suggestions) you will then potter out to find the surroundings just lovely! A village-feel, with small grocery shops, boulangeries, butcher etc...you can easily walk to local restaurants in 15 minutes and to the sea in 10 minutes. The bus takes you in to the city center in 15 minutes....so, a perfect area! (A taxi would cost approx 10Euro to city)
And then.....ah....Mauros fantastic, gorgeous breakfast! Continental with different bread and pastries every day....home made jam (by Serges mum) fruit, youghurt..coffe, tea, fresh juice.....on the terrace. Did we mention Mauros smile.....and creative table setting...a new one every day ;-D
The rooms itself are both really cosy (Asian have a slight more glamorous feel, but Africa is more airy.....so, any of them tick our boxes!) We slept like logs....after the exciting activities in the huzzle and buzzle of Marseille. We fell completely in love with both the city and Le petit Jardin. The nice thing was that after dinner....in town or the port...you can come back to your oasis....take out a nice cold drink from your fridge (a nice touch!) and sit and listen to the frog-song;-)..looking at the wild-life..parrots....frogs..small cute bats..from your terrace...and voila! you have the perfect holiday!
We will be back, very soon!

I stayed at Le Petit Jardin for the second time this year and once again I was blown away. I have stayed in the Asia room both times and it is fantastic. Every element has been thought of in the decoration of the room and even the china used for breakfast (it changes everyday). The breakfast is wonderful, no hot food so do not expect this, it is a wonderful mix of breads, home made jams and home made cakes and pastries.
Mauro is a fantastic host, always very friendly and helpful with any advice you may need and armed with multiple maps to help you with your exploring. Serge is equally good when Mauro is unavailable.
If you are a light sleeper, be warned that you will be lulled to sleep by the chorus of tree frogs but for me this just added to the wonder of Le Petit Jardin.
The property is well located quite near to the town but marseille is mostly quite hilly and there can be some steep ones to get to the property on foot.
All in all i would definately recommend this to anyone and everyone staying in the Marseille area and I am sure that me and my sister will be back again in the coming years.
1 final thought, the bed in the asia room is one of the most comfortable i have ever slept on. It gives my own bed a run for its money and that is rare to find in a hotel or B&B.

The hospitality shown to us by our hosts was wonderful we immediately felt at ease in Serge & Mauro's house. We stayed in the Africa Room - the decor is superb, the bed extremely comfortable- and was a perfect place for us to return to after a long day walking around in then City. I must mention that the breakfast is really great 5 star service! Plus all the information & advise of what to do...

There is absolutely nothing negative that can be said about le petit jardin. Mauro and Serge have created the most beautiful and welcoming home.Nothing is any bother to them It' was our first time in Marseille and we really liked the feel of the city.Mauro gave us great advice from transport to restaurents to places to visit. If the city is too much go to Cassis or Aix which are both beautiful but definately spend time to get to know Marseille.I had read some negative comments about the city but maybe some people are just born whingers!! Thanks again to Mauro and Serge Soooooperb!
