We stayed here for two nights and will remember it for the kindness of the owner who went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and help us with our stay in Marseilles.
We found the room very clean and of a decent standard for the price, no en-suite toilet but the shower was good, we also had use of their car parking place, which really helped.
Outside there is a street market and shops which is a great place to find food, also there is a Corsican restaurant/bar 2 minutes walk away (le relai corse) that served exceptional food and wine.
Recommended if you want a cheap, friendly and clean place in Marseilles.

My wife and stayed here for one night during September.

The location if the hotel isn't that great. Although there is a metro station about a 3-4 min walk away, it's pretty far from the port (30 min walk) and the nicer shopping streets (20 min walk). Also, the location feels a bit sleazy and unsafe (we could hear drunk homeless people screaming from the street all night long).

The room itself was decent. It was clean but had a dark depressing feel to it. The closet is in the bathroom - weird, but ok... The hotel felt more like a cheap apartment building rather than a hotel.

Nevertheless, the owner was nice and was kind enough to give us his own personal parking spot to use for our entire stay.

Overall it's a decent budget hotel, but we will definitely NOT stay here again if we come back to Marseille.

We booked a superior room at the Hotel Lutia and got a large bedroom, simply furnished with a very large bathroom, an extremely comfy bed with nice bed linen and a remote control fan which kept us cool enough. The room was spotlessly clean with the added advantage of a fridge. The hotel is in a great location. Ideal for getting to the centre and beyond. Lots of local atmosphere with the street market and cafes and restaurants. Phillipe was extremely friendly and helpful, assisting us in retrieving our wayward baggage from the airport and providing us with a good breakast. Although the stairs could be a problem for some it made a refreshing change to stay somewhere with a bit of character and such a personal service.

Room Tip: Opt for a superior room. We stayed in a room at the rear which was a little quieter.

I booked here a room for 2. Now there is a misconception about this place that I want to clarify. I booked the room based on reviews that the rooms were large with large bathroom. NOT TRUE. "SOME" rooms are large with ample space and a overly large bathroom. There are other rooms that are verry small, with a tiny shower and NO toilet inside the room. You have to use the communal toilet on the floor. When they say "private bath", it's just that. A private tiny bathroom with sink in the room.

I found this out the hard way as I strolled in here with my friend after a long exhausting trip. Staff was very nice and helped us into our rooms, carried our bags all the way to 3rd flr.
ROOM 11 is the super small room.

The room itself was clean. there is a fridge, a small table and clothes rack. Large window. Fan (if you want this to work without lights, use "dimmer" feature to dim lights with remote control. If you turn main light off, the fan will also turn off).
Rooms are cleaned daily. Quiet and really no issues with property except size of room.

Yeah so we were very shocked to see the size of room and even more shocked to see no toilet.

Now a friend showed up and stayed next door (party of 3). Now her room was SPACIOUS. Causing one to wonder who the heck designed this space. Her room was ridiculously overspaced and quite frankly her bathroom was the entire size of our room.

Her 2 guests only stayed 1 night, so for the rest of the 3-4nights she stayed, she only paid the price of a single person for that "family" style room.
Let's just say my and I felt seriously jipped!

Anyway, all this to say the stay was nice and yes I would stay again, all things considered. BUT I would make sure that my room is larger WITH TOILET included in the room.

Room Tip: Ask if room has private toilet. If they say "no", then know you are getting the smallll ro...

We stayed here for 3nights and found it to be very clean with comfortable beds, plenty hot water and helpful owners, Phillipe and William. It is perfectly situated for walking to the port and Notre Dame. There are nice restaurants close by and a lovely patisserie plus a small supermarket across the street. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did !
PS the ceiling fan does work without the light being on and when the windows are shut they really do keep the street noise out !

Separate from the more commercial / touristic vieux port, and the busy atmosphere of St. Charles, you can access both easily from the Hotel Lutia. Around 200 metres from the metro at Castellane, it could scarcely be more convenient, and has some nearby cafes that it would be a sin not to try! The cafes Massena and Barok for example (both on the Avenue Jules Cantini) offer reasonable prices, particularly good food and a very pleasant welcome. No need to take my word for it, just ask the hordes of locals who lunch there every day!
Other local shops, a daily market and the cinema opposite are just outside the door, as are buses to Le Corbusier, the beach and the I'O.M. stadium, depending on point of view.
The rooms are clean, pleasant and many of them spacious (with a good view up to Notre Dame) and the reception is very friendly. There is no lift, and the stairs could be a problem for the very old or the disabled, though William was very happy to offer to carry our bags!
It is two star hotel after all, so what's not to love?

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a private bathroom.
