Hotel seemed really good for a night staying in Marseille. Room was small but perfect for someone just looking to spend a day exploring the city and have somewhere to sleep at night. However, we woke in the morning to find the bed full of bed bugs (large and small ones which means the bugs had time to breed!!) and after complaining to the staff were refunded less than half the cost of the room. The man in charge didn't seem to mind that we had spent the night sleeping in an infested bed and didn't seem to understand why we were so upset. Would not recommend staying here unless you are desperate and even then.. sleep on the floor.

This hotel is very small. the room was very small but clean. No good if you have heavy luggage because there is many stairs to climb! the streets around the hotel are not as safe.

At 5 mins you can reach the port by walk and all what you need. In 1 min you can reach Noailles metro station.

You have a noisy square because of the high school. It's Ok, we were discovering Marseille at this time but at night, it's very noisy: kids playing, drinking, crying...

I did not recommend this hotel, only If you don't have another option and It's only for one night.

Our experience at this hotel was better then many of the reviews we read. The room was small but exactly what we were looking for (something cheap near the train station). We could see why some people think that the area seemed seedy but it is Marseille, the entire area is seedy. That said the square outside the hotel is in front of a high school so it is full of teenagers during the day. At night there was kids playing soccer and riding bikes. It can be a little noisy so bring earplugs if you sleep light. I sleep through anything and had no problems. The front desk was helpful and friendly. There are plenty of cheap places to eat scattered nearby. If we need a place to stay in Marseille with easy access to the port or train station then we would stay here again.

We stayed 4 days in a double room. It's a very small room with a shower inside. After couple days you get used to this cosy room. If you have an easy sleep you should take earplugs with you.this hotel is quite central. The guys from the reception are really friendly and helpful! We enjoyed our stay in Marseille!

This was our second time staying at hotel l'ariana. First time was wayyyy better. We noticed, as pointed up by the latest reviewer, that the streets around the hotel are not as safe as used to be. First day there and we saw young teens shooting up drugs and leaving needles all over ( first time I had EVER seen that up close!!! they didn't even stop as we were passing by). We also noticed that coming home late meant we would have to walk by all the homeless as the small street has a bit of a shelter cover for them. The rooms were also not as clean as I remember them. The place was just more run-down than it used to be 4 years back. Location/proximity to vieux port and train station is still as excellent obviously, as was the young guy at the front desk. He let me make long distance calls from his cell phone when I couldn't get my phone to work and he would wait downstairs by the door when we were coming back late ( we told him we didn't feel as safe walking through the alley way ( it's only about 500 metres, but still quite intimidating for 3 girls! lol).
There are only narrow stairs up the 4 storeys of the hotel so heavy bags were a pain to drag up!
