Checking in to the hotel went smoothly, and since it was my first visit to a Sofitel, they upgraded my room! I had requested a view of the port, and it was not disappointing. I had a nice large balcony to relax on and have cocktails while watching the sunset over the Vieux Port. Now that was nice. The room had everything you need, the bed was comfortable and the pillows were good. This is not always the case even in good hotels in France! The only complaint I would have is that they were doing some kind of construction in the next room, which was very, very noisy in the afternoon when I was just going for a little nap before the evening. No nap was possible. Then, when I got up to see where the noise was coming from, one of the workmen was peeking over the wall of the balcony next door, looking right into our room!! When he saw me he ducked away. Not good, but I couldn't be bothered to file a complaint.

We enjoyed the complimentary cocktails given to us, while enjoying the view of the port from the beautiful bar area. Very picturesque. Supper later in the evening at their restaurant was excellent, and the service was well attended. Sadly we only stayed for one night, so I didn't get a chance to visit the spa.

This is not a warm and fuzzy hotel, but probably more of a business destination. The staff are not particularly friendly, but they do their job. There is no cash exchange at the hotel, which was a bit of an inconvenience and is fairly common at other hotels. We had to search for a local cash exchange place.

Room Tip: Definitely go for the view of the Vieux-Port, 4th level I think (the numbers go backwards for the fl...

The staff at the Sofitel were truly gracious and eager to help. My room felt spacious, decorated with furniture that suited the space and an extremely comfortable bed. Breakfast was enjoyable, although the food was quite eclipsed by the remarkable view of the Vieux Port. Certain minor aspects of the room could have used some freshening up. It is also a great location for a exploring the Vieux Port. Would certainly stay there again.

The view on the Old Port is wonderful, plus you can see the sea and the hills. Design is modern but the total interior very cozy and comfortable. Location is great, close to all main destinations. Service on reception is very welcoming and helpful.

The restaurant on the top floor is perfect, the view and the dishes are perfect to start the day. Coffee is terrible, but it is common for France.

Room Tip: Do not skip the breakfast, the view and dishes are just amazing

We stayed in a suite overlooking the port. The room was amazing. The entry had plenty of room for storage. Then entering the living room there was ample room to lounge, host a meeting, or have dinner in the room. As for the adjoining bedroom and bath it was all very luxurious and definitely 5 star. The bed was extremely comfortable and exactly what I expect at the Sofitel. Then the bathroom was lovely with heated towels, big oval tub and large glass enclosed separate shower. The hotel also supplies little extras like a candle, bath salts, and bubbles.

We were treated well. Each night the hotel treated us to some little treat at turn down.

The location was perfect for our conference next door at the Palais de
Phara. Plus the view from our room was stunning.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 619

Aesthetically, I liked the polished, clubby vibe of this hotel in contrast to the grittiness of the Vieux Port. Views from the lobby and the pool to the port are amazing. Our room did not have a port view, and there is not anything at all to see on the other side….so if you are staying a while, I’d recommended springing for the view. We stayed on July 4th 2013, and the pool was gorgeous. It has a nice top tier where you can sit high above the water. The pool area does function a bit as a café, and lounge – so there were always a good amount of people dining and chatting on the pool-deck. (Fun vibe, but not zen) The gym was very nice, and empty – attached to the spa. The view from the gym looks into the port and there are some secret lounge chairs on the deck outside the gym. Its a good spot if you want a view all to yourself. It is a bit of a walk into the port itself – I’d say 15 to 20 min. Our visit was short, but yes, as other people mentioned, it could get a bit tiresome if you had to do the walk multiple times a day. It was easy and felt safe to walk to Rue Fortia for dinner. We did enjoy a disco-y, synth heavy lounge singer one evening in the lobby. On our second day, I enjoyed walking around the market stalls on the north end of the Old Port. In the evening we had a very pleasant walk west of the hotel, away from the Old Port to Restaurant Peron. (A ridiculously amazing meal at which I actually got a sunset-burn.)
