Due to a problem in my credit card my reservation (made and confirmed online 2 months prior to the arrival) was canceled without notice. I only realised this situation when I arrived at the hotel at 10pm. The hotel was full and little effort was made by the staff to solve the situation.

Only one of the staff members speaked english (poorly). The manager did not speak at all and was clearly more concerned about going home than to solve the situation. The only solution found was to spend the night at ibis budget in the airport (20 km away from the city center).

I realised that when a reservation is made online in the accor website the credit card data is not tested at that moment. Despite this fact accor sends an email confirming the reservation!!!!!
In my case the hotel only checked the credit card in the morning of my arrival. As consequence my reservation was canceled immediatly and sold to somebody else.

Room Tip: Very good - the bathroom is a bit snug, but manageable!

I booked this hotel expecting (very) basic but at least decent services. These expectations were not met even remotely. Services are basic, yes, but they are also very poorly executed. My room had a door which opened with difficulty and was very stuffy. The airconditioning produced more smell than heat relief and made a lot of noise. At the head-end of the bed a switch board to control the lights in the room had been installed, but the switch board itself had tiny lights which you could not turn off, making it impossible to have a dark room at night. The room was not cleaned very well, awful bathroom with black spots on the walls, no shampoo (you have to purchase that yourself from an automat in the entrance hall) and hardly any soap.

The hotel staff were reluctant to help (and not able to speak more than a few words of english) with most things, ranging from contacting my local office of my flight company for a last minute change, to explaining where we were on the city map (which I had to ask for), and other information (breakfast time, check out, taxi, etc). Breakfast was your standard small breakfast, nothing too bad but certainly nothing to write home about, just all adding to the frustration of having chosen this hotel. I was VERY happy to leave after two nights of hardly any sleep and next time in Marseille I am definetly NOT going to stay here again.

Nothing to grumble about here. Our three rooms, although basic, were all clean, towels were changed every day, and the beds were comfortable. Buffet breakfast, so you could eat as much as you liked and there was a surprisingly wide choice. Hotel is easy to find, just a few minutes on foot from the waterfront with dozens of restaurants nearby. I would actually have given five stars - for a hotel in the Budget category! - except that we didn't like the noise from the dirty, narrow street at the front. But you can't blame the hotel for that. Best to keep the window shut at night and use the air-con.
There are useful (large) baggage lockers in the basement for 2 euros.
A comment on the negative review from "jorsiem", there is a large car park UNDER the hotel, which isn't immediately obvious, but we saw cars carefully reversing into the lift right by the hotel entrance and applauded the ingenuity of the planners (and the skill of the drivers). Maybe that disgruntled reviewer should have tried asking at reception, like we did, for extra towels and for info about the parking.
Overall, very good value from a budget hotel.
.

Room Tip: The street side was noisy early in the morning.

Ibis are usually decent but this one is the absolute worst I've ever been to.

The room is pretty basic, and I get that, since this is a budget, but the room is filthy, the bathroom has stains on the floor, roof and walls. No soap, no shampoo, broken toilet, a clogged (doorless) shower that flooded the bathroom and part of the room after a 5 minute shower. The towels smelled horrible, looked like the ones you get at a 99 cent store and there was only one.

They promise free parking, but the parking lot consists of 5 spots and 99% of the time is full, if you're going by car, don't go there.

I'll stick with ibis stykes or novotel from now on.

Room Tip: Look for another hotel.

So having crossed the Spain/France border riding all the way from Barcelona, this was our next stay in our European Motorbike tour.

The location was nice for those that wish to enjoy what Marseille has to offer, both for the night life and sunny morning walks along the port.

when we arrived I had one worrying thought..... where/how on Earth am I supposed to safely park up my ride for the night.....

I was a little anxious at the idea of leaving my only transport and one great love on the pavement/road outside the hotel, so doing so temporarily whilst we checked in, I asked the reception if they knew of a car park nearby, to which I was given a keycode for the lift situated at the entrance of the hotel. A little confused, I entered the digits on the keypad only to be taken back by a joyous surprise.... I couldn't believe my eyes.... it was a car/vehicle lift with an entire car park network in the basement, it was huge with a motorcycle only section. This was without doubt the BEST feature of this hotel, made us feel like we were living the dream!! :-)

The room itself was simple enough, very small but the space was managed well, I especially liked the futuristic mood style lighting in the headboard of the bed, there was also a fluorescent brightly lit shower head that gently changed colour as you showered.

All in all, I would say this hotel was cheap and cheerful, nicely located and I would recommend for those visiting by car/motorbike.
