This park is what I think of when I picture the palette of Marseille - the whites and pale tans of the cliffs, the gorgeous blue of the sea, and the way it all becomes a bit of pale, muted orange at sunset. It's simply gorgeous. Great spot for a hike, walk, swim, climbing, or just sitting on a rock, staring at the view, and congratulating yourself on having the good sense to come to one of the most beautiful spots in one of the quirkiest and most wonderful cities in the world. In case it's not clear - I love this city and spot!

“Beautiful scenery”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

We visited the Parc National des Calanques by boat. We took the 3.1/4 hour trip from Vieux Port - "L'Integrale des Calanques": Grand circuit - cost was 29 Euro per person.

The weather was beautiful and the sea was quite calm. The boat, L'Ilienne, with a capacity of 275 passengers was full and, although there was plenty of seating on the deck and inside, everyone wanted to be outside - and many passengers had to stand for the duration of the tour. To ensure you get a seat outside, get there early. (People started queuing an hour before departure.)

The trip was very enjoyable. The scenery was spectacular - lots of photo opportunities.

Commentary was in French only, but leaflets in other languages, giving a brief synopsis of the tour, were available.

“Beautiful scenery, great boat trip from Marseille”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

We did a short boat trip excursion from Marseille and it was well worth it. We were visiting on a cruise ship and I hadn't done any research on Marseille so didn't know what to expect. This was a very welcome surprise! It's a lovely scenic area with steep cliffs and crystal clear blue water. Interesting to visit even for a short while but I would say you'd need even longer to appreciate the beauty of this area fully. It's a stunning coastline. If you're in Marseille and see the boat excursions for sale, do it. Well worth it.

“Small cruise but really worth it”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

A real treat for little money. A nice way to recover from long walks in town. The water is rather cold so probably not worth to take the cruise with bath. Don't seat on the front part of the boat if there is wind...(but the staff will warn you) and be ready to shoot a lot of pictures !
