This is 20 miles of water edge drive along Marseille. It is beautiful. There is a small rock public beach accessible in front of Petit Nice that provides access to bathing but a magnificent view. To gain that view from the hotel above cost 800 euros in the junior suite

Travel the corniche as it trims the heights along the southeastern coastline of Marseille and enjoy the sea-spray carried high by the cliff-winds, the incredible vistas of Mediterranean blue, the beautiful villas with their beautiful gardens... No car!!! No problem. There are other transportation options from the city; one of the best are the sightseeing buses with the open top deck. You can still enjoy the sea-spray!...AND you can put both eyes on the passing beauty!

At this landmark there are some good photos to be taken of the water and of the structure. It is accessible by bus rout from the center of the old port. It is usually a stop on any of the day tours. There are some private beach lounge clubs here that are paid entrance if you desire.

Across the road you will see access down some stairs to a small port. Go there for a picturesque lunch or drink to relax.

The structure itself is impressive and simple in its design. At times there will be a tour bus that stops by and fill the area with 50 photo taking tourists. Wait about 15 minutes for the area to clear out and the monument will be yours alone.

Only 10 minutes are necessary for this short stop in Marseilles.

Marseille's busy waterfront promenade. Cafes and bistros lined up across from the avenue encircling it - but beware, they are not hhe cheapest in town. Northern side has some benches to sit and watch passer-bys.

But on a sunny evening with the Castle of If in the back ground this makes for a great pause along the sidewalk.
