We didn't plan to have a lunch in Peillon, but after hiking up from the train station to this charming village, we got really hungry. That's why, finishing our walk through this marvellous little place, we were happy to see a restaurant sign. The one and only waiter greeted us kindly, saying that it's not open yet, but he'll be very glad to welcome us in 30 minutes. Indeed he was: his stories about the restaurant, its history and owners were like ones of a fairytales writer! :) Charming and lovely. The waiter did everything possible to make us (and every guest here) feel so comfortable and at ease. You could tell that he loves his job and proud of the place he works for. Such a rare, pleasant insight! When the food arrived we really understood why is all that fuss and legends: it is indeed marvellous! And that 24-year old chef who cooks here is a true master! It was a pleasure and a great experience to come here. This restaurant is enough reason to climb that hill and visit Peillon!

Fabulous lunch. What a lovely place. How refreshing to be eating here after the tourist traps in the coastal towns. This restaurant is what this business should be about, food made from the heart with traditions of the family. They also get what good service is about, we felt so welcomed there. And the cherry tart I had was out of this world! I was talking about it all the way back to our hotel. I hope to eat at this lovely place one more time in the future.

We have visited the place during our Sunday Motobike trip in Alpes. The restaurant is situated in the beautiful village with a perfect service and jazz music. The problem is that you do not really have a choice of food: they will cook what they have found fresh in the market. We ordered a large menu for 29 euros, and the portions were so small that we had to be back home and to make a big sandwich.

We knew nothing about Les Plaisirs before we drove up to Peillon and started wandering through this delightful village, which would have been worth the drive on its own. However, it was exciting to find such an incredible restaurant at which to have lunch. So many of the restaurants in more touristy remote villages, perched on rocks and the sides of mountains, have become over priced and rather smug, whereas Les Plaisirs is delightful, the service friendly, helpful and enthusiastic and the food incredible. The setting in the ancient house on the edge of the village was both interesting and charming.

We were delighted to be the only foreign diners and were lucky to be able to eat there as we were also the only people not to have made a reservation. The dishes were imaginative and delicious and full of fresh vegetables and herbs, both wild and cultivated. The choice was between two differently priced menus and everything sounded enticing, we thoroughly enjoyed every dish that we had and this was definitely the best meal that we had during a week sampling many restaurants in and around the Côte d'Azur.
