As a small business owner I have neither time nor money to waste. So having the luxury of a couple of hours free I headed up the hill to Peillon. One doesn't go to Les Plaisirs for a quick bite to eat. Romain, his mother and sister cook and serve food well worth waiting for. I had a terrine de lapin as a starter. One of my pet hates is chefs who liberally powder their plates with spices as "deco". Taking pieces of terrine and dipping them in the gremolata edging the plate was a revelation, the acidulated apples and roasted red peppers all added to the experience, though I could have done without the coleslaw.
The main of quails in the BEST OF BEST jus de cail was fab. The home grown veg on the side were simplicity itself and delicious.
I applaud Romains cuisine and his intelligence. For him there is there is no heading to the whole seller, he grows his own and is careful in what he sources. Also in putting a rince doigt scented with lemon peel on the table for the decerning amongst us who choose to nibble every shred of meat off the bones. Another of my pet hates are sachets of chemically imbibed synthetic wipes, YUK.
Merci Romain, c'était tout simplement un plaisir. A bientôt

When you reach Peillon village, something magical captures you: all this rich nature with its beautiful surroundings, the pure air...and here we are after climbing few stairs..in the restaurant Les Plaisirs. An extraordinary place, where you feel yourself absolutely reborn. As soon as you meet the young Chef Romain Clavel-Millo, you finally breath in all his love and passion about cooking, creating and, of course, sharing. You know that you have to come back as soon as you can as every time it is just a new journey to somewhere...and you just let yourself be guided by this humble Chef! Pleasures are to be shared, therefore do not wait, take your car and go on for a lovely moment in this gorgeous restaurant, where we feel like home.

Great food. You coukd only love it because is made with authentic ingredients cultivated directly from the owners are the restaurant. The atmosphere is great, romantic and bucolic. Book in advance in summer. Just few tables. There are 2 main formulas Menu. 2 dishes (20€) or 3 dishes (30€). Sweets from 8 to 10 euro. I suggest the 3 dishes menu. Good rosé wine. Usually 50-55€ x person with wine. A bit expensive but in line with cotê d'Azur prices. Service it's a bit slow.. But who wants to hurry here? However what they miss in speed is widely compensated with nice and gentle service and hospitality... That's not so easy to find in french people. So it's worth for a visit. High quality and rare kind of food. I hope to have been helpful.

Our lunch at Les Plaisirs was an absolute delight from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed and given an entertaining description of the menu choices on offer, along with the extra special touches from rising star chef Romain Clavel-Millo. We could have chosen a two course lunch for 19 Euros, but we opted for the three course option at an absolute bargain 29 Euros. This was top notch food for an everyday price. Every mouthful was sensational. This meal was one of the highlights of our autumn week in the Arriere-Pays. The small restaurant is beautifully appointed with individuality and flair. We have visited Peillon before and now we have a real incentive to return.

Both the restaurant and the village are worth going out of your way for. The village is charming (it put us in mind of what St. Paul de Vence must have been like before mass tourism smothered its charms), and the restaurant is exceptional. The flavours of everything we ate were superb - high quality ingredients prepared by the chef Romain with skill and imagination but without unnecessary fuss, and served by the attentive and obliging Xavier. The salmon we had for main course was, we were advised wild - which from the flavour we did not doubt - and from Norway, and the ratatouille (a dish I love) was the best I've ever enjoyed. A superb fig tart, with delicous shortcrust pastry, and excellent coffee rounded off an excellent meal at a very fair price. We will certainly return whenever we can.
