We arrived at Le Mas late; it was dark. Somehow, we had been able to drive from Avignon to St. Remy successfully. When we drove into the courtyard, we weren't sure we were in the right place. When we found out we were, we both had that feeling like, "Wow, we're really going to like it here".

From that point on, all went remarkably well. Karine, the manager, was there to greet us. We were in time for dinner and when she showed us our room, it was another "wow" moment. Dinner was exquisite; 4 courses thematically arranged. For example, the 3 appetizers were variations on mushrooms.

The grounds are absolutely breathtaking; two pools and a view of the surrounding mountains (Les Alpilles, I believe). The town itself is charming. You are located in an area that allows you to visit a number of other charming villages( don't miss Les Baux).

Basically, if you're looking for the essential Provence experience, you can look no further than Le Mas Des Carassins. Choosing to stay there will be one of the best decisions you'll ever make.

Room Tip: there are 2 separate buildings, both excellent, but the original has a bit more charm.

Our e-mail requesting hotel information and room availability received a prompt response. We made our reservation and requested that a car pick us up from the Avignon TGV station and all arrangements worked out perfectly. The hotel is located about a 15 minute walk from the center of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Our room (named La Jasse) was on the second floor and featured a private terrace with views over the rear of the property. The road passing the hotel was just below our window but we were not disturbed by passing traffic. The hotel breakfast was delicious with a wide coice of items. Dinner in the garden one evening was lovely and featured wonderful food. Windows in our room and the door to the patio did not have screens but the room heating and cooling unit worked well and directions were easy to understand.

Our hotel-arranged taxi to deliver us back to the TGV station was on time. All-in-all, a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: A prominent sign on the adjacent piece of real estate advertised lots for sale so the quiet peace of...

I love this charming hotel. The grounds are beautiful and nicely maintained. A quiet and peaceful place to relax and enjoy. Spacious and pretty room with a large closet and nice bathroom. Good bed. Plush towels and a terry cloth bathrobe. Perhaps the best feature is the private patio with table and chairs. There are two swimming pools. Fenced and gated parking. Nice breakfast each morning. Friendly personnel. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: The private patios vary. Specify if you would like a sunny or shady patio and how much privacy you...

This was our 4th stay at Carassins, the last 5 years ago. It is even better than before with beautiful additions to the grounds and common areas. Again, we hosted a party of 30 for the weekend with dinners and a reception. The hotel could not be more accomodating and easy to work with, Our guests commented repeatedly on how lovely the hotel and grounds are, how kind and hepful the staff are and how absolutely amazing the food is. The hotel is pure country elegance. And it is a great location - just a few blocks from central St Remy. Pierre and Michael are the best hosts and all of their staff a delight.

A most comfortable hotel with beautiful garden property, 2 pools, and a fabulous French restaurant. We returned after a visit 2 years ago for another 5 nites.
Easy walk to city center - lots of small alleys to explore with shops, bars, restaurants.
Highly recommend it!

Stayed here for 6 nights in late September/early October 2013. We had one of the larger rooms in the new building, which had a private veranda which a covered cabana, lounge chair, and table and chairs. The facility has wonderful gardens, 2 swimming pools, and areas where you can relax, have a glass of wine, and enjoy the peace and quiet.

The hotel is with 10 minutes walking distance to the center of town (a slight uphill walk returning). You can also walk - slightly uphill - about 10-15 minutes to the hospital where Van Gogh spent his last year, and just a little further to the Glanum (Roman ruins). About 20 minutes further (by car) is the town of Les Baux, which is amazing!

The staff was very helpful in all respects and this is definitely a place I would return to when visiting this area again.

The hotel offers packages for meals, which I highly recommend. We ate dinner in town one night, and had a fabulous cooking class in Arles one day, which included late lunch - the other nights we ate at Les Mas Des Carrasins and we were not sorry! If the weather is nice, you have a choice to eat outside. The dinner includes an aperitif, an amuse bouche, trilogy of appetizers, main course, cheese and dessert triology. The menu is fixed each day, but you can ask for something to be modified if you do so early in the day. The chef was outstanding - all the meals were excellent. The cost of the meal, without wine, if not included in your board is around 37 Euros. In town the price at a comparable restaurant was about the same.

The hotel includes a nice little breakfast buffet with hot and cold choices. It was a nice way to start the day - served from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. I would recommend getting there on the early side, because not all buffet choices were replenished as the morning went on.

My only critical comment, which is very minor, would be that guests should be sure to book reservations for dinner ahead of time if possible and be clear if you want to eat in the garden, weather permitting (beware of the mosquitos). Although we did not ask for seating inside, we were given a table inside 3 out of the 4 nights we ate there (one night weather was bad, which was understandable). Our understanding was that the restaurant was for hotel guests only, who were asked to book reservations before 3 p.m. of the day they wanted to eat. We were unable to get a reservation for Sunday evening on the Saturday morning before - we were told that the restaurant was fully booked - but we only saw a small number of people eating inside that night upon our return from town. Not sure what that was all about, but the hotel staff did call and make a reservation for us in town, and we were very happy with that meal, so it was fine.

All in all, Les Mas des Carrasans was first class and definitely worth what we paid. Thank you to Michael, Marlon and all the staff for making our stay very enjoyable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back building - very quiet and newer rooms.

Stayed here for 5 nights. It is located in St Remy de Provence, about a 5 minute walk from the center. The rooms were spacious and well equipped. Nice bathrooms as well. The landscaping of the grounds was beautiful. Two nice pools and a lot of outdoor art. The dinners that the hotel
Chef prepared were fantastic.
