“Peaceful retreat”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

We were so pleased to have found this lovely retreat walking distance from St. Remy. Our hosts were a young couple eager to answer questions and provide information to make our trip go smoothly. They recommended a restaurant and made the reservations for us. Our room was spacious and clean, and the grounds are lovely. We enjoyed the pool and the delicious breakfast including bread, pastries, yogurt, fruit, coffee, and fresh squeezed orange juice. The table was set beautifully.

The owners are an effervescent, gracious young couple who work very hard to make your experience an enjoyable one. They made multiple dinner reservations for us. The breakfasts were delicious. There's also a beautiful swimming pool.

We wanted to stay in St Remy while in Provence and found a perfect place. La Maison de Line is walking distance from town, yet seems worlds away once you are within its walls. It's a large property with several "houses" on it with rooms in each. Our room, "Alpilles," had a super comfortable large king bed and plenty of space. The view out the second story window was of the property and rooftops beyond. It was very quiet at night and the room temperature perfect. The bathroom was of decent size with a large shower.

The property includes a large pool and beautiful enclosed pool room. It's rare to see such a nice pool at a bed and breakfast. There is a gorgeous rose garden and a nice bench to sit on and enjoy the view. Parking is within the enclosure and there is plenty of space.

You can do self-catering or they have two rooms that are bed and breakfast. We chose bed and breakfast. The coffee is fantastic and the baguettes incredibly fresh with fresh butter and several types of jam included. Each breakfast included something different...home-made yogurt, French toast, perfect thin crepes, and at one breakfast a chocolate torte. Fresh-squeezed orange juice was also available (the real thing).

Louis and Myriam are the young couple who now own the inn. They are sweet, friendly and incredibly helpful as well. They supply you with lots of information, both verbal and written, on things to do in the area. They supply you with local maps and pamphlets and can either suggest things to do or help you find things you come to St Remy wanting to do. We wanted to see sights associated with Van Gogh, for example. The told us about a series of easels that display his paintings along a path and how to get to the historical psychiatric facility that housed Van Gogh for awhile (be sure and see it; incredible). There is a list of local restaurants in St Remy and Arles, with their recommendations and even price ranges. We tried Restaurant Marilyn on their list in St-Remy and loved it.

They speak English for those worried about language. It's nice to see a family with young children running an inn like this as its so friendly and relaxing. They just got a new puppy and were happy to show him off. He's already well-behaved.

Louis spent quite a bit of time with me when I needed to confirm our flights and do online check-in. He even printed our boarding passes for us, which was really awesome.

For those interested in more of a spa experience, they have yoga and massage upon request as well. They also have a lot of art displayed from local artists. They are just a fun young couple with plenty of nice conversation and such a great attitude toward their guests.

I only wish we could have spent longer at their peaceful and delightful inn, and recommend it highly. We can hardly wait to return!

Room Tip: We loved our room, Alpilles, one of two available for bed and breakfast

We've just spent a couple of days with "Scrabble" friends in this delightful place where we could relax, discover all the beauties of that wonderful area of France and enjoy the peace and pleasure of this beautiful and cosy "Guest House".
It's really well located, on walking distance form the centre of town and each "guest house" is nicely decorated with good and refined taste.
One feels very much at ease with the comfortable sofas and the beds are
excellent with lovely linen. The bathroom equipped with the very spacious shower, to my husband's delight, and a separate toilet which is rather
pleasant. The rooms are spacious, sunny and bright with view on a little private garden.
Right next to our house we discovered the beautiful swimming-pool which nobody can resist but dive into the tempting blue water and relax on the comfy deck-chairs and enjoy the peace and the sun !!
We discovered a beautiful rose-garden with lots of lovely scents and several fountains here and there make the place very relaxing and harmonious.
A spacious carpark behind the pool, a nice breakfast with a different
surprise each morning and Louis and Myriam, the welcoming owners, made our stay very pleasant and enjoyable.
It's definitely a place I can recommend you to go and stay at !!

We recently completed a wonderful vacation in southeastern France, and staying with Myriam and Louis Fourton at La Maison de Line in St. Remy de Provence was a major highlight of our trip. La Maison de Line is an enchanting collection of historic buildings and grounds close to the center of St. Remy, but offering cloistered quiet within its walls. Myriam and Louis could not have made us feel more welcomed. The La Maison de Line buildings and grounds are unique, beautiful and well maintained. Every morning we enjoyed a delightful breakfast served in their beautiful glass enclosed dining area with views of the central courtyard and fountain. Excellent works of art were appropriately displayed throughout the main buildings. Myriam and Louis were superb in recommending great restaurants and places to visit around St. Remy. We highly recommend staying at Le Maison de Line, and look forward to returning ourselves in the future.

My wife and I stayed at La Maison de Line for 7 days and it was exactly what we were hoping for in a Provence getaway, with a couple of pleasant surprises thrown in. We were looking for a peaceful place where we could unpack an "live" for a week in Saint Remy. The Cyprès villa (called a "self-catering") had a nice little kitchen that we used every day to make breakfast. The space allowed us to unpack fully and not feel cramped. And between the bedroom, the living area, the small dining table, and the table and chairs in the gravel patio, we felt we could move to a different part of the small villa to suit whatever mood we were in. We found the pool area to be an unexpected pleasure. It was definitely a quiet area, where we could read, sip wine, take in the sun, or go for a quick dip. We weren't originally thinking we'd be wanting to lay around a pool, but we found ourselves making our way there for an hour or so, almost every day of our stay. The other unexpected joy for us (though admittedly we're both animal lovers) was seeing and interacting with the resident cat (Nahla) and dog (Plume), both small, independent creatures that made our day every time we spotted them. On a more practical note, it was great to be 5 minutes (walking) from the town center, and to have secure parking for our rented car.

My partner and I recently stayed here for 2 nights and wish we stayed longer, our room was extremely charming, spacious and clean. The owners are wonderful and extremely helpful and gave us great advice on where to eat and visit in and around St. Remy. I would highly recommend the tasty breakfast, we had an assortment of jams, pastries, fresh fruit & yogurt and french toast!! The pool area is nicely laid out, very relaxing and secure access for the safety of young children. The grounds are well maintained with a beautiful garden and trellis....that gives you an enchanting feeling! I will definitely return for at some point in the future!
