“Overlooked Toulon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 November 2011

Located in the old part of town, we were very suprised by Toulon as the Lonely Plantpot dismisses it, we were there for only two days and there was more to do than that, the cheap boat ferries, the cable car and the harbour all interesting. The hotel, very clean, quiet, convenient and friendly, would use again.

This hotel is lovely. It is quite small but very comfortable and clean. You can park right outside the hotel(limited space so book ahead) on a pedestrian area but you have to move your car by 9am!! The hotel is right in the middle of the old part of town with lots of bars and cafes..It is then only a short walk to the port that offers everything, restaurants, shops, bars and cafes.

No frills hotel.. Small but clean comfortable room. The hotel is centrally located in the old part of town, not far from the port. The nearby market adds local colour. We ate really well at a little restaurant around the corner called 'Resto Les Enfants Gatés'.
A ticket for 6 euros will give all day unlimited use for the ferry boats, the cable car and the buses. You can get them at the Tourist Office. The beach at Mourillon is worth the visit.
The hotel staff are very pleasant and helpful.
Yes, it is noisy in the mornings with street cleaning going on etc. We found that parking was a problem generally in Toulon, not just in the pedestrianised area, so the parking recommended by the hotel was useful, and we took advantage of it even though at first it seemed expensive.
Give yourself extra time if you need to get to Toulon airport.. it's not exactly in Toulon and not at the end of a motorway either....

Perfect hotel for what we wanted. Great value for money. Central location with local shops, bars and few minutes walk from train station. Room was clean, modern with a very snazzy bathroom. Only complaint was the aircon rattled. Staff were friendly and the hotel exceeded my expectations. Would stay here again.

We stayed in this hotel as it was near our friends' flat in Toulon and also close to all the city has to offer but i'm sad to report that I did not sleep a wink. During the night, people kept talking loudly in the corridors and slamming doors constantly. Someone I knew stayed at a different floor and they had the same complain. I will probably not go back as there are similar properties nearby.

Good: central location; clean; nice breakfasts (worth the £8.50 euros each- Toulons is an expensive city for those of us from UK); very pleasant reception & breakfast staff; good heating in rooms; nice bathrooms- clean & modern; nice big breakfast room (self-service)

Not so good:
Hotel just been painted & all hotel smelled of paint- which I am allergic to- so had to sleep with windows wide open all night- cold & noisy! very, very noisy city so not much kip

-No communal area/lounge/bar so felt pretty cramped in our small room

- Quite compact double room; only one chair, not much room to move

I booked this Hotel because of the very good reviews on TA. The Hotel is one of the most basic I have used in many a year, however it was clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful and above all the location was perfect. WIFI an added bonus however not much faster than dial up! No bar, did not have breakfast as there are many restaurants just a few yards away. Would recommend but just be aware you are booking a very very basic Hotel. It does not say much for the other Hotels in Toulon when this Hotel is constantly rated # 1.
