I recommend the location, few steps away from the main bus station and train station. Well it depends what are your plans but as we wanted to visit quite some piece of Cote d'Azur (by train and by local bus transport) so for us the location was just perfect.
It's also not far from the harbour, anyway Toulon is not a big town.

The room was clean, wifi worked fine, TV as well. There was no hair dryer in our bathroom, but not a problem, you can ask for it at the reception.
Air condition was quite old-fashioned, anyway we didn't use it.
Very comfortable bed.
We didn't try breakfast so I cannot say anything about it.
If you close properly the windows you almost don't hear the noise coming from outside.
BUT the walls seem to be thin and door are not isolating from the inside noise...so if you have noisy neighbours you will deffinitely hear that.
They even put a paper in the lift asking guests not to slam the door, make noise and so on...but some people seem not to understand they are not alone in this hotel.

I've stayed in many hotels in France in the past ten years and, in the 60 to 80 Euro category, this one is probably the worst I've stayed in . We chose this hotel because of its situation close to the train station, town center and ferry port. The only good thing about it was the reception staff, one of whom recommended a good restaurant and another who booked us out quickly at 5 am. The hotel is typical French style very shabby but no chic. It is old and needs modernising and at the very least redecoration. The room was depressing, badly decorated with dated fixtures and fittings. The bathroom was old fashioned with old cracked tiles, grouting missing in the shower and the hair dryer did not work. Because the lift is very small, we used the stairs to get to the 3rd floor. Unfortunately the manual, electricity saving, light switches are very small and badly positioned to find in the dark and they did not work on two levels. The hotel is right oposite the train station which is convenient but not quiet. Overall a bad experience.

Really there is nothing new about this hotel. The rooms need an overhaul into this decade. I was in room 534 and it resembled something out of the 70's. Dark disgusting carpets with cigarette burns and dingy walls helped contribute to the feeling of being closed in. The hotel receives 2 stars only because of its location near the train station and its an easy walk to the shopping area. Also the gal on staff was pleasant which is always appreciated. I knew coming in it was going to be on the lower end of the spectrum of hotels but even so it was a bit of a shock to pay 50 euros for the night and get such a crummy room.

Room Tip: I stayed at the back and overlooked into a crowded courtyard. You could smell the neighbours cigare...

Across the street from the train station, you can't find better in the area.

My understanding is that there are new owners there that are really trying to improve the place.

My room was adequate, very affordable, wifi was working and I had hot water :-)

Granted, there are no english channels on the tv, or I was unable to find them, but hey, you are in France, try to get the sound of it as well while you're there :-)

Hotel is old and worn, just like the bed I slept in. The shower is handheld and there was no shower curtain. The TV has no english language channels and the wifi wasn't working. that was the bad stuff. The good stuff. Location. really handy to the train station and downtown. My room was clean & the price is cheap. there was internet access in the front lobby, and the staff was friendly.
This is an ok place for a night, if you are waiting for a train

Well now that i have read this i want to add my comment. Same deal! I stayed here on the 7th for 5 nights (sadly had booked this before hand). The hot water was not working and i was told on the day they were endeavouring to have it resolved within the next 24 hours. Yes, i did get money off, but I hadn't showered for 5 straight days!
Not impressed.
The air conditioner made "ticking over" sounds which drove me insane throughout the night.
Not only were couples having their bedroom antics played out for all to hear but those listening were smoking out the windows. Of course it all wafted up to our room on the 5th floor.! This some nights continued till about 3 am....
We couldn't shut the windows cos air con was very noisy.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street are better
