“Clean, not far from old town”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

I had a pleasant stay in this hostel. It is situated at a hill-y place and at one point I was not sure I was going to the right direction. But I did locate it. The hostel is well maintained, clean. The stuffs were very nice, spoke good English too. However there is none at the reception from noon to 4 PM. On the bright side, the Annecy lake is just 10 minutes downhill and so is the old town. They also have tie-up with a company so that you can rent bikes at a reduced rate. The breakfast was quite good and other facilities were nice.

Clean and friendly. This hostel is located just outside the main pedestrian area in Annecy, up quite a steep hill but the view from the terrace makes it all worthwhile. A stunning view, it makes breakfast an experience in itself. The hostel is clean and fairly quiet. The communal areas are good, the bar has a good pool table and table tennis; you could imagine it being a bit of a party area with the right mix of people, although it was quiet when we visited. Annecy and the lake are fantastic and worth a long weekend/week in order to take in all the sights/sounds.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. Caught the bus from the railway station to the Hostel and each day walked downhill 10 min to the old town. View of the lake from the Hostel is lovely, its quite and relaxing. Staff were very helpful, I had trouble connecting to my email and Juliette went out of her way to help me, even checking on her mobile phone. Thierry made me laugh constantly with his mad humour, we felt right at home here.

This is a beautiful hostel! As are many hostels in France.

Yes, it is a bit of a distance from the train station and there is a hill involved. It's not too bad and it's no big deal considering what you get in return.

The hostel has a typical lodge feel to it, which is perfect, considering where you are. There is an excellent kitchen and wonderful common rooms (one is quiet, the other has a small bar).

The rooms are great! Mine had four beds, a shower and sink/mirror right in the room. Very clean, cosy and convenient. The window opened up to a beautiful view of the surrounding trees.

The hostel also serves a very good breakfast! And, it's self-serve, so you can eat as much as you feel like.

The owner has his dog on the premises...the sweetest and most adorable little thing! Everyone falls in love with her. She was one of the highlights of my stay there!

The lake is only a ten-minute walk DOWNHILL...and so beautiful that it defies description! The old town is right next to it. Annecy is a very pretty place and I highly recommend this hostel!

This hostel is a long hard walk from the train station especially if you are packing a lot gear in your backpack. Upon arrival, it was worth the hike. The place is well run, clean, and quiet. There is a backyard with picnic tables, games room, bar, laundry room, kitchen facilities and library. There is a resident beagle who is very friendly. The town is geared for the outdoor enthusiast. We stayed for five nights and met some wonderful people who turned out to be good friends even after our departure.

This hostel is a bit off the beaten track, but well worth staying at if you want to save on some cash. People complain about the hill, but really it's a 10-minute walk to downtown and not all of it is hills. Definitely a work out, but worth it after you eat all the delicious food and ice cream in town. They don't have any towels, make sure to bring some, but for 20 euro I got a room for the night and breakfast included. Very cheap. The show was cramped and moldy, but I only had to use it once. There was a large number of elderly and young kids in the hostel at different points, not sure if it serves as a community center as well. When I returned at night the bar had a few people eating and playing games, but overall this place is very quiet. A good budget stay.

We stayed overnight – and the hostel is very cozy and comfortable. The view of Annecy from here is amazing, and the kitchen, breakfast and facilities are also very good. Only negative point is the location- it’s a steep walk up the hill (even if you take the bus till last point) – and could be tough for the elderly, or people with kids / baggage. We were young and backpackers – managed it. The walk is even tough with a bike- because you almost take a straight hill up. Apart from that, its worth staying!
