My husband and I spent two nights in this very well located hotel. Everything is tiny, the reception, the lift, the rooms! However we had complete silence at night and our room was very peaceful considering how amazingly busy the street below was. There really was very little space in our allocated room but if you are there purely to have a good night's sleep and be close to all the action, it is a good choice. Walking distance from the train/bus station ( which is also where you can hire bikes) and an easy stroll to the beautiful Lake Annecy this hotel has definitely prime location in its favour.

In the center of all. I mean the location. Right in the center of all. By this reason we participated from the room in noisy Friday night till it was ended. But it was rather funny. The location is really superb.
Rooms are small, so is the elevator.
Breakfast is basic and expensive. It is a good idea to book without breakfast.
The staff is well trained.
Now the main thing. It is impossible to arrive to the hotel by car - just because the hotel resides in the medieval center of the city. The nearest underground parking is in 5-6 minute of nice walking across fairy old city. So: do not try GPS! Crossed the river - seek for parking. Or go to the "City hall" parking directly. Then go to the river - the hotel is there.

Room Tip: The higher floor - the better

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in July 2014. The hotel is quite small and doesn't have many facilities but it is clean and the staff are very friendly. The best thing about the hotel is its position. With the old town on one side and the canals and Lake Annecy on the other it is a perfect base from which to explore this exquisite region of France.

This was a charming hotel in the heart of Annecy located on the Grande Canal. It is in the heart of the old part of the town 2 blocks off the lake. Our room was clean and adequate for our needs. However, I would recommend requesting an interior room because of the early morning noises including a street cleaning machine. As well as being located near the lake, it is close to shopping and lots of good restaurants. I would recommend visiting the farmers market. I would recommend ordering items that include the local cheeses in when dining. Cruise Lake Annecy by all means, but go with one of the small tours. You can find captains who will take you out for half an hour for about 10 Euros. The captain gave us a lot of background information about the lake and with a small group was able to answer our questions.

Room Tip: Request an interior room

We decided to stay in Annecy for a one night stopover on our road trip through France and so pleased we did. The town was really lovely with endless cafés and restaurants to choose from, the beautiful lake so close by and we were happy with our choice of hotel.

We stayed in room 203 (?) which overlooked the canal with a small balcony and we felt like we were in a medieval childhood dream, really lovely. There were street performers at night which we enjoyed from the balcony however if you are after a quiet early night, probably not the best room to choose.

The room was small but enough for a one night stay and the bathroom was larger than we have had at other properties on our trip. Breakfast was good value and we were served by a very friendly lady in the breakfast room.

Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the canal for the best view.

Superb hotel smack bang in the middle of the old town. Fantastic room beautifully decorated with amazing views of stunning Palais de l'Isle (medieval prison) Many great little pubs and cafes along the river and of course lake annecy just a 5 minute walk away. Great stay here!

My wife and I stayed just one night at the Hotel du Palais. Our decision to stay in Annecy was based on wanting to be a short drive from Geneva airport (about 45 mins north of Annecy) after getting off an overnight flight before we headed south to Provence. This hotel is located in the very heart of the old town and couldn't be better located. One question that comes up frequently in discussions of this hotel is where does one park? Parking is actually fairly easy - there is an underground parking garage about 2-3 blocks away just outside the pedestrian area on Quai Esutache Chappuis. The parking garage is the Place Hotel de Ville Car Park but anyone can park there. The Hotel du Palais can give you a card that will pay for the overnight parking, however you have to pay for the day parking.
Our room was located at the very front of the hotel with a great view overlooking one of the main canals and part of the pedestrian area. The room itself was pleasant enough and not too small. The bathroom was fairly modern and well equipped. Getting to the room does require using a very small elevator and meandering through a couple of narrow hallways with some steps.
The hotel doesn't really have a lobby other than a small area by the reception desk, however there is a lounge/bar area on the 2nd floor. We didn't opt for breakfast there and instead went to the cafe next door for a decent (and cheaper) breakfast.
One thing we noted was how accommodating the receptionist was when we arrived. Since we had just flown in to Geneva after a red-eye from the US we actually arrived in Annecy fairly early in the morning (around 9am). When we went to the hotel they said we could actually check-in then, however if we were willing to wait just an hour or two they could give us the room with the nice canal view. My experience is that most hotels don't let you check-in until early to mid-afternoon, so it was a pleasant surprise to be able to get into our room before Noon.
Overall, the Hotel du Palais de L'isle is a decent hotel in a great location at a reasonable price. I'd recommend it as a place to stay in Annecy.

Room Tip: Park at the Hotel de Ville parking garage and ask the Hotel du Palais' receptionist for a card t...
