“French Alps”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 September 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights. The staff was really great and helpful and spoke English. The room was a bit small but served our purposes. Of course the view from our room - which had a small balcony - was UNBELIEVABLE! The French Alps - specifically Mount Blanc was crazy beautiful. Including the view of the town of Chamonix. The bathroom was pretty small but I have to say the water was very soft. I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: If you can, ask for a view with a balcony facing the village & church

Stayed here 4 nights while on a group tour, and it was great. Located right near the centre of everything, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful (and speak perfect English as they are British/Scottish). Had everything you need for a night's stay, and breakfast the next morning was excellent. I would definitely come back here in the future.

Room Tip: The rooms on the second floor were nicer than those on the first. I think they get nicer as you go u...

The Hotel Le Chamonix is a slightly shabby hotel very well located in Chamonix. We stayed for a couple of nights last week, and for over 130 euros a night for 2 people with breakfast, it's expensive for what it is.
The room was very basically furnished with a double bed (no headboard) and bunks, a small table, and an ensuite bathroom. It did benefit from a balcony overlooking the square (and bar underneath) and mountains beyond. It was reached by a steep, dark stairway which smelled of blocked drains, something I came across during our last stay in France too (in Val Thorens). I'm sure it's not the French norm! There is free wifi in the lobby/breakfast room, and the breakfast (not included, 9.50 euros extra) was a simple continental offering.
The English staff were lovely, very helpful and friendly, and they lifted the hotel out of the poor grade I would otherwise have rated it.

We really enjoyed Chamonix but unfortunately the weather was poor so we couldn't go up any of the mountains. The hotel was very basic, the carpets on the stairs was worn and the hallways were shabby. There was no lift which was hard with our big suitcases since we are traveling for 4.5 weeks around Europe. The doors on our level were REALLY loud and squeaky so we could hear everytime someone was on our level. The room was comfortable but really basic and the pillows were very hard and high - i had to sleep on my jumper instead of the pillow. The wifi was quite good in the lobby. Breakfast was very very basic for 9 euros and we were recommended a restaurant - Alan Peru which wasn't very good. With this being said, the service was excellent by the lady who was at reception.

Set within the centre of Chamonix with extensive views of Mont Blonc and the surrounding mountains this is a charming well run hotel. The views from the room balconies are simply stunning. The front desk staff are very welcoming and extremely helpful and although the hotel only rates as a two star the overall standard is extremely high and is good value. Our group had a selection of rooms (doubles & family) the double being the better option and of a higher standard, with the bathrooms in the family rooms being a bit on the basic side. Although located in the centre of town we found the rooms to be very quiet.
There’s plenty of space for boot and ski storage in the basement and the ski lifts are a short walk away. The breakfast is a continental offering with a fair selection to choose from combined with an excellent level of service, you also have the option of eating in the centre of town. This hotel would be a good option for both summer and winter visitors.

I seldom feel happy about French hotels.
In Chomonix I tried 2 hotels before this hotel.
I went around this town and I found this hotel is the NO1 hotel!!!
I was so happy to find this hotel. And ladies (working or owner?) from Britain are so nice.
Not expensive at all.
And people are so nice.
I will come back here for sure.

Room Tip: This hotel is facing the square and fist floor is a restant runs till night. So if you want to sleep...

The only downside is the bar beneath the hotel. Great location, beautiful view, clean, the bunk beds were a little weak to hold an adult. Pay parking is at the church 5 min up the hill. Very nice town, take the cable car, nice hike up to a falls 10 min down the road. Wanted to stay longer.
