This hotel is just up the road from Chamonix in the village of Argentiere. We stayed there with a group of plein air artists this past June. The views right out the front door are majestic! The room we stayed in had its own shower and commode which was great. The prices were extremely reasonable, the owner and staff very friendly (even though I speak almost no French and they don't speak English) and we were provided with a nice traditional french breakfast every morning.
If you are looking for a high brow full service resort don't stay here. But, if you are looking for a comfortable, clean, friendly, traditional French Alps gite, this is the spot!

Arriving early for a 7 day MTB trip we checked in here and it was a treat! The hosts were very nice, it was a good deal, the WiFi worked well, the rooms were clean and tidy, and it was quite quiet. It also has great access to a several of the main XC-MTB trails in the area including the Petit Sud Balcon (and the Nord), and the main easy trail into Chamonix.

It was my first time at Chamonix (very lovely place!) and I stayed at Les Randonneurs for 2 nights last year.

Les Randonneurs is a charming wooden house located just across a bus stop (Les Chosalets) so moving around Chamonix is easy.

Room (with shared toilet) was good - I stayed on a second floor with a view of the mountains (!). No issue with the shared toilet - clean and always available for use. I had my dinners with them and the highlight each night was sitting by the window and looking at how the mountain views changed over time. Wireless internet also available.

This hotel is an excellent, home-made style, typically-French run Hotel. The owner Florence is so hard-working and i highly recommend taking the menu du jour (menu of the day) at dinnertime as she cooks everything herself, all by herself. Typically you may get, a croute Savoyard with a plate of ham and pickles, with salad, and then get a fruit salad for dessert. Or, you may start with a vegetable soup, sauteed chicken (Delicious!) with rice for main, and ice cream (a very fudgy chocolate and 'mont blanc'- meringue and vanilla). The courses are well-laid out and is always of high quality and local ingredients. These were the two menus before christmas, during the christmas period the food can be quite adventurous and the xmas day menu is always very good- especially dessert! (It is good to take into account that most people staying here will be probably skiers or snowboarders so a hearty menu will probably be there) None of the menus will be british, so don't bother coming here for fish and chips. Breakfast is a small buffet of bread, an array of jams, butter, toast, yoghurt, cereals, milk, coffee, tea, all quite typically french. No bacon, fried eggs or something of the sort (although you could probably ask her to make that for you in advance).
The rooms are not massive, as is the hotel, but each room (other than the dorm room) has a shower. Most rooms will have to share a toilet per floor (there are about 3-4 rooms per floor) but room 5 has it's own toilet with newly built shower. Each room will have a window of a beautiful view. The hotel is situated just next to les chosalets bus stop, just across the bridge, and les grand montets ski resort is a 10 minute walk with ski boots. There is a room to keep ski boots, poles, skis, snowboard, sledges, when you enter the hotel it's past the staircase up on your second right. There are no televisions but they do offer you free wifi which is excellent for checking weather forecasts, emails, and it's connection is good despite wherever you are in the hotel.
I have been coming with my family to this hotel for a few years and each year it improves itself. Better food quality, more upgraded technology, it is certainly better also than larger hotels who possibly wouldn't remember your name even after you've called them seven times.
I enjoy the friendly atmosphere at dinner as well as the food, and i think space is probably the biggest problem. But as long as you don't have masses of clothes everywhere, you'll be fine.

Room Tip: Room 11 has a balcony, 3 to 4 people, room 5 has it's own toilet, room 8 is a one person room an...
