“Excellent experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014

We went early in the morning to buy the tickets. There wasn't a big crowd and we entered relatively fast. The funicular had a lot of people, but if you are not scare of highs it would be a nice experience. The large line was only to take the picture in the transparent box. The views of Aiguille du Midi were impressive and really lovely. The temperature was 0 Celsius/30 farenheit.

“Worth a visit while in Chamonix”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014 via mobile

Amazing views from the top. Cable car takes you to the top...you need to switch in between as the journey has two legs...they have restaurant and gift shop...we had taken 3 days unlimited pass, i felt the pass is really worth if you are planning to stay there for 3 days as it not only covers this but also other nearby excursions...useful especially if the weather is not that great up the first time as it happened with us and we visited the second day again...the pass also allows you to use Montenvers railway which is another nice ride....you can buy the pass at any ticket office.....if you arrive before 9 AM, you do not need to wait for your slot as they let you in the next slot itself....gets busy in summer so worth visiting in the morning...

“website wrong! Lines/crowding brutal, But views great”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

Completely annoying website and video monitors ON SITE said all parts of Aiguille lifts were closed. We were up at 6am, ready to be on the first lift up at 6:30am to beat the crowds and hours long lines. The CLOSED on the website and video monitors there was wrong, and left uncorrected for hours. On the way out of town we happened to walk by. Saw HUGE lines of folks waiting to buy tickets and people loading up and ascending the lifts. While in line for over an hour!!!! their video monitors continued to read that all 4 "stops" were closed. Was fuming mad. No reason for mistake given when I asked. She said, "But it is open" when I asked why it had read closed until just moments before we made it to the front of the line. Packed in like sardines on lifts. Long waits at every stop. Much better I am sure first thing in morning. Views from the top are totally worth going. But… a walk over at 6:20am seems the best plan.

“On top of the world, almost!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2014

We were fortunate to visit the Aiguille du Midi in June when they are no queue to buy tickets or take the cable car. We bought a multi-day pass for the Montenvers train (Mer de Glace) and the Aiguille du Midi. The price was very steep but worth it. If possible, it is important to choose a sunny day to go up there if you want to enjoy the Mont Blanc and the other spectacular mountains from Switzerland, Italy and France. It is also important to take plenty of water, sun glasses and warm clothing. At 12,500 feet the weather can rapidly change and you better be prepared if you want to enjoy your expansive excursion. On you way down, stop and enjoy the little cafe at the first station. From there you can either take the cable car directly back to Chamonix or hike to the Montenvers train station. This is a 2 1/2 hours beautiful and not difficult hike. Just make sure you arrive in Montenvers before the last train back to Chamonix at or around 5PM. If you still have some time left, visit the Mer de Glace. It will take another hour and one half to complete your memorable day.

“A must do - as long as you are not afraid of heights”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2014

Taking the lift up is not for everyone - but if you have no problem with heights the view is great. Be aware that during high-season the lift is packed so time your visit carefully
