“Outstanding Hotel with Impeccable service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2013

We spent a weekend here to celebrate our 20yr Anniversary. We definitely chose the right place. For Skiing was amazing. The service in the hotel was the best Ive ever had. As soon as you arrive the service begins they took our car keys parked the car in the garage unloaded all our bags and ski gear and dekivered it to our room. There was a free shuttle to go skiing. The michelin starred restaurant they have is out of this world such fantastic service and staff and the food amazing .... highly recommend this hotel.

Hi again, my wife, daughter and I have stayed in this hotel for a week in January , 2013. We have booked a Luxury room with fireplace we have not been disappointed. The room is large enough or a family of 3 or even 4 . It has a large bathroom, separate area for an extra bad (for kids) with their own plasma TV. The balcony is small but the view of Mont Blanc and mountains around you is breathtaking!!! I would give this hotel a solid 4 star rating, just because they missing out on a small things :)) (one waiter at the breakfast, they forget to restock themini bar with water, etc.), but like I sad overall experiences very pleasant and I would definatly come back!

Room Tip: Try to get higher floor in a main building ( 3rd or at least 2nd)

We selected the Hotel Albert 1er for its exclusiveness, world-class restaurant, and amazing La Ferme rooms. We were not disappointed on any of these levels. We had a memorable Christmas Eve dinner at their 2-Michelin starred restaurant and the food was absolutely incredible. The sommelier assisted with our selection of wines for the duration of our 6-day trip and was both friendly, approachable, and flawless in his suggestions. The other restaurant staff was also top of class. As I said, our room was amazing with its views over Chamonix towards Mont Blanc. The amenities are too are extensive from fitness to sauna, to steam room and massage, along with indoor pool. One of the other amenities was the free shuttle service to and form the slopes. We enjoyed this for the first few days, until a trip to the Le Tour ski area. The weather was inclement with snow/rain mix. At the top of the hill the driver stopped to let us out, but failed to set the parking break. He exited the van to retrieve our snowboards, then I exited the van and only to see it start rolling down the incline with my wife hanging inside. For anyone that knows, the parking lot at Le Tour is long and at a decent incline. The van quickly gathered speed and I grabbed the open side door and dug in to slow its acceleration. For the next 5-10 seconds I pulled on the sliding door, digging my boots into the snow and ice and was able to keep the van from picking more speed. My drag on the van's motion eventually pulled the vehicle to the right towards me and was fortunate to hit a nearby truck that stopped the van, at which point the driver caught up to the vehicle and was able to climb in. My wife, clearly shaken, exited the vehicle and to my relief with no complications from the impact. The van door was damaged and showed difficulty closing. The driver was clearly upset about the incident, but motioned us to go ski, so we did. As mentioned, the poor weather caused the mountain to close by noon, so we took the bus back to the hotel. As the day wore on we realized how lucky we had been and that the family with two girls dropped off before us wasn't involved in the incident. We also heard nothing from the hotel asking us about how we were. Around 5p I went to complain to the hotel about the incident and the lack of care, the seriousness of the situation and the fortunate face that the van did not go all the way down the hill and gather more speed. I also expressed disappointment in this 5-star hotel for not having a note or message waiting for us in our room regarding the incident asking to follow up. We felt it our responsibility to point out the significance of the events. After several minutes, the lady at reception assured me that it was the manager's intention to contact me after 6p, which I found to be convenient. She assured me as the manager did later they were busy with the damage to the van all day. Not what a guest who was in harm's way wants to hear. Around 6:15p I received a call from the manager and we discussed it and she offered a free drink in their Quartz Bar as recompense for our frailed nerves. We should not have had to contact the hotel to discuss this matter, they should have been up and down all over this matter. Still not satisfied with their response, I am now making this post so that safety may be improved and such incidents avoided. This could have ended much worse.

The hotel grounds, reception areas, and rooms were all wonderful! We enjoyed the beautiful view of Mont Blanc as we sat on the balcony of our room (Room 10). The staff was friendly and helpful. Fireplace in the room was a nice touch!

We were here one night - simply because it was the only room we could find during the North Face Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc race. I wish we could have taken advantages of the amenities but we were out and about in Chamonix - not a bad thing. Raves for the room, the service, the location, the restaurant (La Maison Carrier). Surprisingly the breakfast cost was less than that of a very inexpensive hotel we stayed in the night before. It is a beautiful hotel, but pricey, so if that's your cup of tea, you'll be quite happy. With that said, eat at La Maison Carrier even if you don't stay at the hotel - sublime.

Absolutely loved this hotel! We stayed in July and I can’t wait to return and see it in the winter season.
We loved:
- Beautiful, idyllic grounds – almost picture postcard setting
- Gorgeous pool and spa to relax in
- We dined at the restaurant (La Maison Carrier) and enjoyed every minute - from the ambience to the food
- Cocktails to die for in the stunning bar and really enjoyed the jazz singer both nights of our stay.
- We stayed in the cheapest room but the décor was spot on and just what one imagines an alpine hideaway to look like.
- Cute treats left in the room and tea-time treats such as biscuits and muffins available in the bar area.
- Parking spaces always available
- Fabulous location into town… flat walk!
- General ambience of the resort was 10/10 - really didn’t want to leave.
We didn’t like:
- There was no AC so rather hot in July
- TV kept breaking down
- Wish it was a little more affordable and easier to book online.

Despite staying only a few days my wife and I shared some of our most memorable times at this hotel.

The views were amazing, the staff friendly and professional and the room were spacious, clean and comfortable.

This hotel is definitely worth a visit and Chamonix is a must see destination.
