“Great Hotel”
Reviewed 9 March 2009

Probably the best hotel in Chamonix. Design, modern, clean, excellent staff, very good location in the centre of town!
Rooms minimalistic and clean. Had booked a standard room but were upgraded to a superior upon arrival. Superior room was good size, standard might have been a bit too small for 2 adults with ski gear etc.
Staff were very courteous and friendly and eager to help.
Breakfast selection good, dinner at le bistro was EXCELLENT! worth the michelin star!
Spa was very quiet, had an amazing Deep Relaxation Massage, ask for Stephanie! Indoor swimming pool, small but very clean, same with sauna and steam room.
Location very central, however it was a bit of an uphill walk to the central bus station where you get the buses to the slopes. It's better to walk to Chamonix Sud instead, its closer and not as many people waiting at the bus stop! Ask reception for directions.
All in all, an excellent hotel, i dont think you will find many hotels like this one at any ski resort in the Alps!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotes in late January and really enjoyed it. It was centrally located near shops, bars, and food. Our room was small, but comfortable. The staff was very friendly and spoke both English and French. They gave us reccomendations for dinner and places to see. I would recommend this as a place to stay. The only bad thing is that it was a little bit of a walk to the bus stop if you are carrying your skis. There is another Best Western affiliated hotel that is literally NEXT TO the bus stop. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

  • Liked — How the staff made sure to bend over backwards to assist
  • Disliked — Location to the bus stop for the ski slopes

We arrived in Chamonix at 2.10 pm and at first it struck me as odd that the room was not ready. I was later informed that check in is at 3.00 which is kind of late and on a Monday morning with not so many people in the hotel. However the room was very clean, small as everywere in France, with all the basic commodities plus free wifi but it was very cold at night and the heater wouldn't go up no matter what. As we stayed there only for one night we didn't really mind and the staff were very kind and helpfull so that balanced the situation. Breakfast was very good and the location of the hotel is excellent.

My husband & I just returned from a 2-night stay in a Luxe Double Room. We have no complaints & found the hotel to be a practical place to stay, if not particularly special. Our room was quite basic - especially relative to the price we paid - but the service was good & the common areas pleasant. The free carpark is also a definite plus, & it's easy to walk around town from the hotel. I would recommend this as a reliable, centrally located place to stay.

Our room had a small balcony with table & chairs, which was a nice place to sit during the sunny morning hours, though it did overlook the rather unlovely carpark & several other buildings (beyond which there was a stunning view of the Montblanc range). It wasn't laid out very well & so felt smaller than it was; the bathroom was also very small, with a large shower cubicle but no tub. However, it was comfortable enough.

The service overall was friendly & very good, from the bellmen to the after-hours receptionist (the door is locked at a certain hour). Our lunch at the restaurant was excellent & reasonably priced; it has a michelin star, though the staff seem quite modest about this.

  • Liked — Good service, convenient location
  • Disliked — Room was quite standard, bathroom small

... just a great comfortable room and friendly, obliging staff.

Had a wonderful (though short) stay of 2 nights at Le Morgane in May this year.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming with lots of personal touches that you don't usually get in a hotel this size.

After catching the night train from Paris we arrived early (around 10.30am) feeling grotty and tired so we were very grateful that the staff were happy to let us check in early. Lady on reception was very nice, escorted us to our room and then popped back soon after with some chocolates.

Room itself was great, modern, clean and comfy with a great view to the Aguille du Midi cable car station and of course the mountain itself. Location was nice and central - very easy and quick to walk to the Aguille du Midi station, the SNCF train station, train to Mer de Glace and the shopping / eating areas in town.

Didn't hear a peep from the nearby disco that has given other posters grief. It may have been closed (this was late spring), but whatever the reason we didn't hear anything and we sure didn't have any trouble sleeping!

Loved Chamonix and loved this hotel.

This is a great Hotel. Very friendly and helpful, with turn down service each evening!! Something which is quite rare nowadays. Also in the hotel is a michelin star rated restaurant called the Bistrot. Food is great and service wonderful. Breakfast is an excellent buffet only problem is that they were not happy to just serve croissant and coffee. You have to have the whole deal which is 15 euros. Swimming pool is just a plunge pool but sauna and steam room are great.

This was our first stay in Chamonix, and I was really happy with my choice of Hotel. Since my wife and I are both in the Hospitality Business, we are usually very picky with the hotels that we stay at.

The hotel is ideally located near the Centre and also just some metres away from the Lifts to the top of the Mountain.

We had a car so the parking beneath the hotel with direct access to the room was very nice.

The rooms are very nice and the large windows let in very much sunlight. There are shutters for the windows from the outside. good if you want to sleep during the day.

Wifi internet is very comfortable, and the speed was very good. Signal to room 503 however was very weak.

Breakfast was nice and sufficient. We did not try the dinner so cannot comment on that.

We had a very large room since we where 3, bathroom with bath and shower was nice, double vanity and very modern layout was excellent. Beds where nice and comfortable.

All in all I recommend this hotel very much, Its a very nice and peacefull hotel. Staff are all very nice and welcoming.

I will for sure return to Le Morgane during my next visit to Chamonix.

  • Liked — Modern, comfortable and well thought out
  • Disliked — Weak Wifi Signal in 5th floor. Very little space for toiletrees in Bathroom.
