“Nice hotel...poor staffing..beware the coach parties!”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

Stayed here on business recently- nice hotel, well appointed, not cheap. Pity about the staffing- very por in the bar in the evening- combining demands from a busy restaurant and bar orders is never a good idea with one barman only- nobody is happy!
The restaurant on tis particular evening was struggling to cope with two large coach parties- despite having a reservaton we could see that it had been over booked- crowded, noisy, over hot and poorly served- we went out- there are many options in Chamonix- Mercure- beware!
Breakfast was even worse- two coach parties had obviously descended like biblical locusts- not really an issue if there was any management or staffing- neither, so when we arrived it was like a war zone- no table was clear or re- set and the scraps were left unreplenised.
Chamonix is not a cheap resort- there is much choice- the Mercire has to realise this and step up!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back face the railway- some noise from passing trains.

We booked this hotel on a recent stopover for a couple of nights in Chamonix Mont Blanc. The hotel is in a great location for the main township, but that's all it has going for it!

On checking in, there was one lady at the desk and she was courteous, but trying to check us in and answer calls at the a same time. We had no help with our luggage.

The hallways to the rooms had a foul smell, on entering our room, there was a towel on the floor in front of the bathroom, 1 soap, 2 plastic cups, and a hand towel, not bath towels in sight. The bath had hair stuck to it. Clearly it wasn't cleaned properly. The second day housekeeping left some bath towels, as I went to open the towel after a shower long black hairs feel into the bath. Being blonde, I know they are not mine! Disgusted to say the least!!

The room is dark, lighting layout poor, no air conditioning and 1 night was very cold and the heater doesn't even work! No bottled water, just a small kettle and two coffee mugs and nothing else??!!

The room has a nice view of the mountains but also the train track that ran as early as 6/7am great way to start your day.

Wifi - what wifi... The system was ridiculous, I've had dial up with better speeds and less dropouts! When I called reception to complain about the internet, she started regurgitating the process of connecting. She clearing wasn't listening and then proceeded to ask me to come to reception so she can show me...!

Overall, not a 4 star in my opinion, looks cheap and I felt dirty the whole time we were there. Chamonix on the other hand was speculator will stay somewhere else next time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the train tracks

Stayed in this hotel as part of a group tour. It is ideally situated and is surprisingly quiet. The rooms are unusual and very good with balcony and great views. It is in easy walking distance of the facilities that Chamonix offers.
The food is good and the breakfast is good but only if your visit does not coincide with the arrival of another group. It was very difficult to actually get breakfast on two mornings out of three due to the inability of the staff to restock the buffet as fast as it was being used by guests. This is not a criticism of the staff who all worked hard but of the organisation which is understaffing this function.
All the staff were very helpful and friendly and did their utmost to maximise the pleasure of our visit.
Overall a enjoyable visit

Located right next door to the small train station (Chamonix Mont Blanc), it was a relief to drag our bags over a short distance to the lobby. Staff was absolutely sweet and helpful. Check in a breeze. Room spacious with a balcony facing the mountains. Huge bathroom with ample amenities. The village with shops and eateries are a stone's throw away. Close to Montenvers railway station and Aiguille du Midi telepherigue.
Had a great relaxing time in Chamonix , made comfortable by staying here.

The elevation of the hotel was impressive with the back drop of Alps and more especially the Mont Blanc itself. We were offered rooms in the opposite annex of the Hotel. I was not too pleased initially. But when we reached the room in the first floor, it was an amazing experience. It was a very spacious room with an adjoining room also having a single bed and a big LCD. The best part of the room was the huge balcony in which two relaxing arm chairs were put which was directly overlooking the Mont Blanc with snow clad. We reached the hotel after visiting Mont Blanc and it was a bit cloudy up there. But the next day morning while lazing in the balcony I could get a wonderful view of Mont Blanc from the balcony itself and could capture good pictures of the same in my DSLR. The breakfast spread was also quite good and overall it was a wonderful experience in this property. Only regret was we had only a short stay. This place is a must visit one.

Room Tip: Please ask for the annexe building and Mont Blanc facing rooms with balconies.

Hotel well located, 2 minutes walk away from the city center with its restaurants and pubs. The hotel is not luxuous, but pretty comfortable and beneficiating of a young staff ready to do its best to answer to your request, eventhough they may have a lack of experience. The rooms are not very spacious, except the "Privilège" ones with a wondeful view on the montains. Rates are correct in accordance with the service provided.

Room Tip: To choose a rate including breakfast (19.50 EUR/person if note included) or even meals (half board o...
