There isn't much negative to say about this place. The rooms were quite comfortable and perfectly maintained, and lovingly decorated in old-fashioned "mountain style". The staff were all quite friendly and helpful. There were a number of extra touches that made it extra special such as an excellent shower (so many hotel showers are cramped, or have poor water pressure or poor shower heads, but not this one), a retractable clothesline in the shower, balconies with a view of Mont Blanc, and excellent home-made yogurt in a wide variety of flavors at the breakfast buffet. It's true it's near a major road, but the road noise was quiet enough that it didn't bother us even with the windows open when we were sleeping. The location is great, too; just a couple of blocks from the central pedestrian area, so it was convenient but without the noise of the central area, and an easy walk from the main train station. About the only negatives were that the beds seemed harder to us than most, and the breakfast buffet (which costs extra) doesn't start until 8:00, which is a bit late for early risers.

We stayed at this hotel based on it's "Top Choice" rating in our Lonely Planet guide. We were so surprised at the low quality that we felt we needed to write something on Trip Advisor.

This hotel is "OK". It is right next to the highway so the road noise is pretty significant. Yes, there are great views if you can ignore the cars whizzing by, but this is a major issue and a huge source of noise for the balconies. Our room reeked of incense when we checked in and we complained about the smell but the owner (who is portrayed as nice in most reviews) was pretty dismissive of our complaints and said that we were overreacting to the smell. Our room was a suite with a balcony but we would describe it as "cozy" and incredibly cramped compared with the other rooms that we had stayed in at villages around Chamonix.

Thank you for your comments. Our records indicate that you stayed with us on July 17th.
The room you stayed in was the last one available in the hotel on that day, and we would recommend that you make a reservation next time, especially if you wish to have a bigger room, or a suite. Regarding your comments about the scents, you certainly know that most traditional houses and chalets are made of wood. Woody scents are very common around here, and contribute to the memories of your travel in the French Alps. In any case, thank you for your stay and you will be welcome here any time!

We were staying in Auberge du Manoir for 7 nights at the end of July and right now consider this place to be our second home. It's a cosy, charming savoie chalet perfectly located in Chamonix. There is no disturbing noise (and I'm a picky sleeper) even though it's close to one of the main intersections; every day we were enjoying warm summer evenings on our flower filled balcony with magnificent view of Mount Blanc.
This little hotel is pristine clean and very beautifully decorated; a lot of design thoughts were given to every detail - from overall exterior elevation and surroundings to tiny pebble stone knife rests in the dining room.
Every morning there is an amazing buffet type breakfast served in the dining room; warm sweet pastries, pumpkin seed bread and home made honey joghurt were my favourites.
But what really makes you feel like at home is the warmth and personal touch of Muriel and Frederic. We felt welcomed from the moment of their greeting upon our arrival till sad farewell; it was like visiting the family or best friends.
Auberge du Manoir is one of those few places that I call "tourist-friendly". Contrary to big, "mass-production" mega-hotel establishments that lack flexibility and so much appreciated personal touch this charming little place offers wide spectrum of personalised services and most of all friendly family atmosphere.
Everything is thoughtfully prepared and waiting to please the guests - comfortable beds with crispy duvet covers (not just loose sheets!), fabulous breakfast, bubling hot tub, cold Leffe on the tap, quiet common day room, lift passes to purchase and even umbrellas for rainy days.
We truly enjoyed all of the above; unfortunately umbrellas too.
Thanks Muriel and Frederic.
We will be back soon.

Room Tip: Get the room with MB view. It's really worth it. Also - some rooms feature small fridge; very useful for chilling fantastic local wines.

We stayed here for a few days during a trip to Chamonix in the summer. We asked for a room with a balcony and had two different balconies - both with spectacular views. Our room was comfortable, cosy and clean. The cost was reasonable. Although we don't breakfast where we stay, we did go to breakfast there and we really enjoyed it. By the way, there is a telescope in the breakfast room, ask the owner. The hotel is in a quiet, peaceful location just outside of the main tourist area. We highly recommend this hotel and will return there on our next visit to Chamonix.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony. The views are awesome.

We stayed here for ten days as a base for doing day hikes with a group. The owners Frederic and Muriel worked very hard and went out of their way to keep all of the guests happy. Virginie at reception was helpful when our French failed us.
The breakfasts were fabulous, the rooms clean and attractive. The gardens outside were a pleasant place to sit and relax.
The location was close to the highway but it never seemed noisy and it was an easy walk into town, to the lifts, bus stops or the train station. There are dozens of restaurants in walking distance.

Room Tip: Rooms were priced according to their ammenities. Some with/without a small refrigerator. Some with balcony or a little extra floor space. Good views from the rooms that I saw and the balcony rooms are especially nice.
