We had a fantastic time at the hotel. The decor is really amazing. You feel immediately transformed as you enter the lobby. It's a newish hotel but with a vintage style. The lobby and lounge gives you the right ambience after coming back from a cold ski trip. We went in February and never saw so much snow in our lives, over 2 meters plus more!!! It was so welcoming stepping into this cosy hotel, warming up at the fireplace.
The bedroom and bathroom was immaculately clean.
There was no tea and coffee facility in the bedroom. This we are used to from the English hotels. Even the most basic B&B will have this. So for every warm drink you need to go downstairs. For breakfast you do get a fabulous choice of food. You really feel pampered coming down in the morning, you name it they had, starting with a good strong cup of coffee down to boiled eggs many different types of bread plus all sorts of spreads and jams. As well a nice choice of swiss muesli etc.. Not bad for a 3* hotel. For dinner there is no restaurant on the premises, and the nearest one is a good 10 minute walk (through the cold snow). However you do get a nice little fridge in your room. The manager was terrific and let me warm up my meals in the microwave. There is a supermarket locally where you can buy ample take out dishes.
The hotel also has a great gym plus beautiful swimming pool as well a fabulous outdoors hot tub. A must to try going outside below zero C into the hot tub looking at the surrounding snow. What an experience!!! The only thing that bothered me was the fact that the whole leisure area closed at eight. Lets face it during the day we were out skiing until it got dark. Then you warm up, dinner etc. so there isn't much time time to enjoy, by eight P.M. we were all told to vacate the leisure area. It wasn't just me and my partner. There were others as well disappointed at this. All in we had a great time and would definitely want to come back again.

Room Tip: The disabled room if empty goes for a lot less and feels great. Except for you don't get a balco...

We had a fantastic spring skiing vacation in chamonix and stayed at grandes montets. the rooms were perfect for us - family of 5, 3 kids ages 11-6. two floor room, with three beds upstairs and restrooms, and bedroom downstairs with full bath. Had a stunning view of the valley from our room (room 215). The hotel is very well maintained, clean and feels new. good facilities - nice big indoor swimming pool, outdoor jacuzzi, dry and wet sauna, small gym. simple breakfast but with everything you need and very good quality. only downside is that the hotel does not have a restaurant (not even for simple basic stuff) and the closest restaurant that is open in the evening is a 10 minute walk. wasnt a big deal for us, but i can imagine it being a big deal when the weather is bad...

We arrived in the evening at this charming hotel. It was flanked by 2m of snow, which made it look even more spectacular. There was an incredible attention to detail in the reception and lounge area. Everything looked so quaint and sweet. The Christmas decorations were gorgeous. The hotel is made of stone and wood, which gave it such a cosy feel. The staff were super curteous and helpful. I washed a whole lot of clothes that had accummulated over our 6 week holiday and as we went out to dinner, one of the ladies on staff was even so friendly and went beyond her duties to take my wet washing and put it in the dryer!! We met the owner, he was lovely too and everyone was more than helpful with showing us what is in the surrounding area, some great places to eat in Argentiere. We had a peaceful and quiet sleep and in the morning we awoke to 2m of snow on our balcony and stunning views of Mt Blanc with a clear blue sky. It was glorious! The breakfast was scrumptious, I induldged in many different cheeses and hearty breads. When you step out of the hotel, you can walk to Grands Montets cable car. We had a car, so we went around a bit and were in Chamonix for a bit, went up to Aiguille du Midi .. but we were so glad we were not staying in Chamonix, it is so busy and looked a bit dirty to us, even with all the snow. We were glad to retreat back to our sweet hotel in Argentiere.

We fell in love with the owners dog Fiji, she is the sweetest and we were ready to take her home with us :)

Thank you for an amazing experience at Hotel Les Grands Montets. Highly recommended and we would return.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view of Mt Blanc!! :)

We stayed in Grand montets hotel in Argentiere/ chamonix for 8 days ski holiday with my family. It was in february half term (10-18 feb). The rooms -one suit and one twin room- were very clean (especially bathrooms) and has gorgeous view. Internal design of suit room is comfortable and useful. Spa is very compact and clean too. We used outside hot tub and indoor pool with the sauna almost every day.

Excellent breakfast: Cheese, eggs, jam, croissant, coffee are all fresh with very nice mountain view. They don't serve dinner but you can check local restaurant's menu and make reservation at the reception. Le Dahu was our favourite- don't miss. Staff are very friendly and supportive. They guided and helped us. You can buy ski passes from the reception.

Great location: Grand montets cable car and bus stop for chamonix and Le tour is just 150m to the hotel. Grand montets is very nice ski area and Argentiere is located in between two other ski areas chamonix and Le tour (10-12 min to Le tour, 15-17 min to Chamonix by bus). So you have opportunity to ski in different areas. Hotel has locker but ski shop in cable car station also has locker facility (no need to carry your equipments).

It is not luxurious but well balanced, three star (I agree that it offers 4 star service) cosy hotel with nice openfire and wooden decoration. Definitely recommended. Value for money.

There is not much about this little cozy hotel on its website or on tripadvisor so I decide to give some full description to help others make their travel decisions and arrangements.

HLGM is located in the town of Argentiere (Grands Montets) about 10-15 minutes from Chamonix Mt Blanc. Grands Montets is a very challenging mountain and it is one of the must visit if you are a keen skier or snowboarder. The Aigulle Verte is a exhilarating run and you will find people come here to experience the mountain. The town of Argentiere is appx 15 minutes by walking and it is charming and rustic. It does not have loud bars or discos. There are a few local restaurants offering charming savoyard food.

Back to HLGM, they have been upgrading the hotel for the past 3 years. We have stayed there in 2009 and also this past Jan. They have done a lot of work to the decoration so that it is a lot more modern alpine versus 1970's ski chalet decor (except that the TV is still tiny and hanging from the ceiling, we give up watching after a while) The front desk, Emilie, was very helpful from when we first started booking. She is also very kind to make dinner reservations or other inquiries on our behalf. The breakfast buffet (the only meal that is served at the hotel) was decent. They have over 15 varieties of jam. There are also good selection of bread, ham, and cheese so you can load up before hitting the slopes. HLGM is located closest to the ski lifts and it takes about 5 minutes to walk there with your gear. If you stay in other hotels you will need to cross a foot bridge (think ski boots and metal steps!)

The thing that made the most impression on us was that the owner, Alain. helped us with our snow chain when the snow didnt stop over night. We had to drive to Maison Carriere near Chamonix for dinner and it was necessary to have snow chains to drive. Alain did not mind getting dirty and he helped us with loading the heavy chains on the front wheel. We really appreciate his assistance.

Overall we enjoy our stay. We really wish that there is dinner service so we dont have to move after we finish a day of good skiing. Or maybe food delivery service?

I stayed here with a group of friends for a weekend of skiing, and this was the best choice possible. It is a 3 minute walk from the Grands Montets télécabine, it has a haamam, sauna, pool, and outdoor jacuzzi, and a giant breakfast buffet for a reasonable price to get your tank filled before a full day of skiing. The rooms are very cute and decorated in a classic French chalet style--very comfortable beds. There is also a very nice bar/lounging area with a fire all day long. Non-downhill skiers will love the XC ski trail that is 2 minutes away, as well as the snowshoe trails nearby. We looked into staying here again this season but it is all booked up! We will certainly be coming back.

I can't really draw fault on this hotel, for a three star it really offers a service that is pushing 4star. Superb spa facilities, (15m pool, sauna, steam, jacuzzi), a large lounge area with open fire, bar, pool table.

What did it for me was the attention to detail in all the fixtures and fittings, from tables made from old sleds to carved marmotts peeping out of holes ;-) the hotel oozes warmth and a feeling of a chalet rather than a hotel.

The hotel is in Argentiere, not Chamonix, but this is why we booked it. It is a hotel placed for those that want to ski (lifts and bus network on doorstep), and that may prefer entertainment from quality food and wines rather than clubs and pubs (that said there are a couple of bars that in the village for a late night bevvie)

Breakfast as others have said is continental, but then you are in afterall in France, and the selection offered and quality of the food was excellent.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone, but if you are after a lively resort hotel, then this is not for you, head to the main town.
