“First rate care and attention by Inghams staff!”
Reviewed 12 June 2012

We had read previous reviews and agreed entirely with comments that hotel appears a little shabby but the staff make up for it entirely. Meals were all lovely except for one or two slight exceptions. We arrived late for dinner the other day due to a dodgy walk down from plan de l'aguile ( don't do it unless you like clambouring over fallen trees on a 6 hour hefty hike downhill) and Matt the barmen came out to meet us, saw our utter exhaustion and served us all 4 courses of dinner to our room, he was a saviour. Alot of resort appears shut including several cable cars and warning of this would have been nice. Hotel was exceptional though. Well done to manager Helen and fantastic team..especially Matt. Room was always cleaned well but special mention to Katy who always did the lovely touches with folding and arranging things just so. Bingo night was hilarious. Lovely trips and excursions arranged by Joy, resort manager, who did sterling job. Lovely holiday.

I stayed here with a group of skiing Friends in March. The Sapiniere is a well ran, friendly hotel with fantastic food and great staff. Although the hotel is a bit "tired" it's still more than adequate and an ideal ski hotel, very well situated with a bus stop close by and easy access to the lift network and great views of the mountains.

Stayed at the Sapiniere on the 17th March 2012 for one week , we had room 44 on the top floor, the scenery from the balcony was priceless we still miss the mountain view now .
All the staff from Inghams travel were excellent, all were well mannered and nothing was to much trouble, the food was first class and although the hotel was well worn in parts we found it added to the atmosphere it was very clean .

Room Tip: Room 44 was probably the best room in the hotel having a separate room with a single bed and a new f...

This hotel might be a little lacking in elegance and luxury - but you would be hard pushed to find better quality meals and more stunning views from the bedrooms in a package tour holiday hotel in France-let alone in Chamonix - for the price we paid.
This place is a no-brainer for a resort like Chamonix, where eating out can be very expensive- and the usual type of chalet catering can often leave something very much to be desired.
The current chef produces ab-fab food and the staff are so customer friendly you would think you were staying with your relatives!
Most of the hotel rooms give you totally unobstructed views of Mont Blanc when lying in your bed(apart from when its misty of course!).
Its right opposite learner slopes and the frequent skibusses to all areas are 3 mins walk.
Great work from Inghams.

Room Tip: All rooms are good. If you need a lift to get to floor 3 then ask specifically for that- as one wing...

I had a great time in Chamonix at La Sapiniere!

The young team running the hotel are friendly and happy to answer questions that they must have been asked many times before. All requests were met with a can do attitude.

The kitchen staff put on lovely breakfasts and dinners that will leave you much heavier by the end of the week! I'm sure that the head chef has been watching Master Chef, as there are some very intricate dishes on the menu. By the end of my stay I had to skip some of the courses, as I couldn't ski it off fast enough on the slopes!

Room Tip: Room 26 has a huge balcony and is at the end of the hall so it has less passing traffic. It is above...

Agree with previous reviews; the highlight of this stay was way that dinner was organised, which encouraged you to meet and talk to the other guests - this made the whole stay much more varied and enjoyable than I might otherwise have expected. Add to this excellent food and wine, a delightful staff, who were friendly and helpful and so hard working (and very young - all English); good location for the hotel - near the town but not in it and easily accessible from Brevent chairlift.

A minor complaint for me was the size and relative condition of the room we were allocated. It was in the older part of the building (it seemed), on the second floor up creaky stairs (no lift). Having seen a couple of the other guests' rooms, we certainly felt like the poor relations, as we had no balcony and a lot less space. This was only a minor concern though, as we had a great overall stay and would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone considering it.

We have just come back from a fantastic week in Chamonix. Whilst some fresh powder wouldn't have gone amiss, the conditions we're sunny and warm every day. I have to agree with the other reviews on here, that La Sapiniere hotel is a little tired in places, but this is, being addressed gradually with some in place renovations clearly taking place in the off season. Our room was located on the first floor facing out onto the mountain and the nursery slopes, which was a beautiful vista to wake up to every morning. The staff at La Sapiniere were simply amazing. The level of service was really high and unlike some places where I have stayed previously, everyone of them were friendly and happy to assist, nothing was an imposition. Chamonix itself is not the cheapest place to ski and apres, but La Sapiniere cater for this really well. The drinks bar is reasonably priced in comparison with the other prices in the town, and the copious wine provided with the evening meal each night, is of good grade. A really lovely touch is the Afternoon tea, serving a selection of savoury and sweet delights. Shortly before dinner each evening the canapes and drinks reception, are a lovely introduction to what I can honestly say is the most amazing food I have ever had on a snowboard trip. The chef's really go all out, providing a varied menu, with awesome presentation, coupled with the excellent service by the chalet crew, it's a real joy to sit down for dinner each evening. Wednesday's are the teams night off, but after speaking to the Ingham's representative - Matt, we ate in a fantastic restaurant (La Bartarvel). If I end up back in Chamonix, I will be really disappointed if I am unable to stay at the Sapiniere. The staff, the location, the food made this one of the best trips (despite the warm weather).

Room Tip: The rooms at the front of the hotel have the most amazing view of the mountains, which is fantastic...
