We have just returned from our long weekend boarding in Chamonix. We stayed here on BnB which is all they do. The room was very dated but lovely, lots of space, flat screen TV and very warm. Great sized bathroom and just a lovely place to come back to after a day on the slopes. It is family run and very friendly we both loved it. Room was so clean and lots of fresh towels every day. You can get drinks at the little bar and sit in the cosy rooms or walk across the road to a small but lively bar.
The bus for the ski area's are just at the back door, however Brevent - Flegere is just a 7 min walk up a hill. We boarded this on the first day, it's lovely get your self over Flegere where you can find bars with music and some lovely long runs. Alternatively get the bus to Le Tour ( Balme) which has some just fab long runs, the Belle Place was my favorite red run. Last day we went to Grands Montets we didn't see it at its best as the snow came in, but the red back to resort was good fun!
Couple of things to help you out. Take a travel kettle we did and it saved us as none in room. For a lovely meal come out of front of hotel turn right, walk for 5 mins and turn left at the Millit store you will see some restaurants on the left, one is called La Table fab place great food, we had the cook it your self meat with salad and chips, stunning. For a bit more Apes ski go to the outdoor bar opposite the Irish coffee place. Good bit of vibe.
Only bad point on hotel is the breakfast, nothing hot, can't toast your bread and not even cheese with the ham, plus tinned fruit, all this said I would go back as great little hotel well priced and cosy!

This family run hotel has large spacious rooms and very friendly, helpful staff. It is also very clean with wonderful bed linen! I suppose it could do with some modern decoration, but then, would it lose it's character? It is in an excellent location, being easy to catch a bus to the slopes from the back of the hotel. The front of the hotel opens into the main high street in the centre of Chamonix. We would certainly use this hotel again on another trip.

The phrase 'family run hotel' normally fills me with dread, but the Hotel Richemond is run perfectly by a friendly family. Decor can honestly be described as be dated, reviews refer to it's faded grandeur but somehow it all adds to the atmosphere. Yes, I'd happily stay here again. Location is unbeatable, set back from a busy pedestrian street on one side, and seconds away from the essential ski bus stops on the other (stop is Chamonix Centre). Walk to Aiguille du Midi cable car is less than ten minutes. Breakfast is good, my single room was spacious, clean, comfortable and desperately in need of new wallpaper and sensible furniture. But then it would have seemed out of place. Lots of hot water, friend had a bath in her room ("Takes ages to fill"), I had a strange shower that I mistook for a fridge. Would sum up with the words "recommended" and "eccentric".

This is the 9th year I have visited this hotel. It remains as quant as ever with the same family running it. I love it and have introduced several people to this hotel who share my enthusiasm :) Claire is so welcoming and friendly, happy to share her life with yours. Evelyn is bubbly and fun and very helpful with any questions on the resort. Roberto is fantastic, friendly and chatty in the night time and also in the morning when he does breakfast. I feel very happy to continue to recommend this hotel. It is central in the main street making any part of Chamonix close by. The bus for the slops is just outside the hotel, perfect for keeping sore skiing feet to the minimum and time maximisation!
Love it and will go back every year I can :)

Crisp, clean linen and beds made every day. Spotless bathrooms with fresh towels every day. Great breakfast for the price and warm, friendly staff to make you feel very welcome and cared for.
Perfect location with bus stop right outside to all the slopes and also placed in city centre so easy access to Chamonix restaurants and après ski.
Thank you Hotel Richemond. Merci beaucoup!

For those saying its dated..... To me it was a bit too modern.... I typically like really old style places adorned with lots of wood from 100 years ago- but this wasn't like that at all. It was very updated, my guess is within the past very few years. Far more modern than your typical Hilton/Mariot at least inside the rooms- outside the rooms in the common areas it's more of a 1950s/1960s type of feel which was very well kept and in no way gaudy or worn out. I thought it was a very cool place. Our room without a veiw had an incredible veiw - just not of mont blanc. The veiw of mont blanc out of the main dining room window is incredible- so incredible that I took a picture with my iPad and it has been my background for months.

Room Tip: If you have the opportunity to get a room with a veiw, I'd go for it...
