“Great hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2014 via mobile

The hotel is brand new, with nice lobby area for drinks&socializing, kids area to play.
Free wifi & underground parking, good ski rental inside the hotel. Good breakfast.
Downside: you have to take either your own car or the bus to reach the slopes.
If you have the chance go ski in Courmayeur, to close to miss.

We stayed for 5 nights at the hotel in a family room with our two children (ages 3 & 5). Everything was amazing at the hotel. The rooms were great for a family - the kids loved the bunk beds and it was great having a balcony to get some fresh air. The rooms are not massive but you generally don't spend a lot of time in them anyway. The hotel reception area and bar/ lounge was great too - there was something there for everyone with great views and access to the front and back of the hotel. The pool and spa area was fantastic and much appreciated after a days skiing. They were welcoming of children but did request that they weren't too rowdy as it was a place for relaxation. Given it was school holiday week - the pool was pretty overrun by kids anyway! It was extremely well equipped. We were also able to rent our skis etc. from the little ski shop. The prices were very reasonable and it was so convenient to be able to dump them off at the end of the trip. Breakfast was great, the little deli downstairs was very useful too. The staff were great - we had a small problem which was dealt with extremely professionally by the manager and other staff members. I think they really went above and beyond and for that I am very grateful. We arranged a babysitter one night and it was one of the receptionists which is always very comforting! On the whole, I would definitely stay again and would recommend it to anyone.

If visiting chamonix look no further l'heliopic is the place to stay new hotel modern bright and cheery relaxing lounge bar area all open plan young kids playroom plus free sweet dispensers the ski shop is excellent with brand new equipment to hire and free lockers to store ,they also have a range of gloves hats socks and goggles etc to purchase . Don't waste time queuing for lift passes the hotel reception can arrange them for you along with ski lessons and transfers to and from the airport we stayed in a family room which had loads of space the boys bunk beds were great built into the wall crisp white bed linen luxury toiletries provided and a hair dryer an easy to operate safe also a DVD player there are DVD's you can take to your room free of charge but maybe better to bring your favourites
from home there is a good choice for breakfast cold and hot options and plenty of it after a hard days skiing relax in the bar area or go to the spa I would also like to mention without exception all the staff are second to none nothing was a problem and always happy , the hotel is right next to the L'Aiguille du Midi cable car and your ski pass gets you on that for free you are right in town so location could not be any better , all buses are free with your lift pass if no lift pass approx 1.50 euros and they transfer you to all ski areas you will not be disappointed with the L'Heliopic

Highly recommend the place. Quality hotel for reasonable price. If you are skiing the nearby cable car station unfortunately is not the one you need; you will have to take a bus to Chamonix or La Praz stations across the other side of the resort. I also suggest getting the ski pass from reception to avoid the crowded counters at the cable car stations. Good choice of rental skiing equipment at the hotel's shop for very reasonable price. Overall good choice. The only down are the ski slopes - French seem to never machine groom the slopes therefore I recommend to take the Mont Blanc tunnel and try Courmayer in Italy. 51 Euros return and 30 min by car from the hotel.

Just returned from this lovely hotel, located just outside of Chamonix centre.

The staff are friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Remember, there is a ski hire shop in the hotel and you can use a locker there free of charge to store your skis/boards as well as purchase/hire equipment at reasonable prices. You can also buy your ski passes at reception to save queuing on the mountains.

The rooms are very comfortable with soft furnishings as well as a king size bed and luxury bathroom. The cleaners are very attentive and replenish toiletries daily with 'Nuxe spa' brands.

The spa is amazing after a hard day on the mountains. There is an array of facilities from ice baths to saunas, jacuzzi and chill out area. The massages are a little expensive but good quality and experienced staff. I would like to see some loungers by the pool but overall it was a lovely experience.

The restaurant let us down slightly, the food was lovely and good value for money but the service was very slow. Assuming this boils down to teething problems and in my opinion, an extra waiter would have done the trick! There was an ample choice of red wine for all pallets.

Overall, a very enjoyable stay. We would love to return and will definitely be recommending it to friends and peers.

I have been going to Chamonix for several years and always struggle with a finding a good place to stay that isn't outrageously expensive or disappointing in rooms/decor/service. This past January, I discovered L'Heliopic and really loved it. The hotel is brand new and feels like it's right out of Wallpaper magazine--stylish yet minimal, but overall very comfortable. The location is great, just off the main road and near the center of town. Rooms are well appointed, with nice style. The lobby and common areas are very nice and the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Loved the buffet breakfast and garage parking was a nice luxury. All of this at a VERY competitive price. This hotel will definitely raise the bar.

Room Tip: Ask for mountain view on the end of the hotel.

Stayed 4 nights for a skiing trip in a standard room.

The basics were all there: The twin bed-room I shared with my father was spacious enough for two people with (tons of) skiing gear. The interior was very modern and minimalistic, yet functional. There was an easy-to-use (and free-to-use) digital safe on one of the shelves, a massive HD TV, free instant coffee and tea, a spacious terrace with a private feel and magnificent view over Mont-Blanc and Aiguille Du Midi, a heated towel rack (perfect for drying clothes) and a spacious bath/shower which was replenished every day with shampoo, body lotion and soaps.

Now the above in itself should be enough for you to click to book-button.

If you are still hesitant, however, I will gladly inform you of how Hotel L'Heliopic has taken things to the next level:

First of all, for the first time in France, I felt comfortable with communicating in English. No matter what my request was, the staff immediately helped out in a positive and customer-centric way, like when I needed directions to a restaurant or when we arrived at the room whilst the cleaner was at work.

Secondly, there was no time to be bored. Not in the library filled with good books and movies (both French and English), not by the massive screen screening new ski and snowboard-movies, and certainly not by the bar serving well-made drinks accompanied by fresh newspapers.

Thirdly, the spa was simply fantastic. Having used saunas frequently since I was young, this was the best construction I have ever had the pleasure of using. Further, the spa staff was friendly and helpful, bathrobes were provided if needed, the pool felt clean, the views were magnificent (up to the surrounding mountains), and the other facilities seemed top-range (I am a sauna-only person).

Fourth, the ski rental was amazing, the skis were as new as the hotel and the rental was very reasonably priced! The man working there was very service-minded and extremely good at finding the perfect skis in accordance with our unique demands.

Fifth, the breakfast was incredibly varied (clearly taking international inspiration), the coffee was well brewed (i.e. strong), and the breads and baguettes seemed fresh!

Last but not least: Location, location, location. Everything in central chamonix is within a short walk. This even includes Chamonix Sud bus station, where buses to all the big resorts are located. And of course, if you are planning on going up to Aiguille Du Midi (which you should), the lift starts literally 50 meters from your doorstep.

Enjoy your stay to the fullest! I know I will be making my way back to this place shortly!
