Superbly located just 5 minutes from Chamonix restaurants and night life. For drivers there is a covered, very secure garage space allocated, along with room to park securely on a barriered quiet road right outside the apartment.
The apartment was very well appointed with a double room with ample wardrobes and a very comfortable, firm bed and a second room with bunk beds and a wardrobe.
The bathroom has a walk in Italian style shower with constant hot water supply. The lounge/kitchen area has a large table, good utensils and crockery and was fully equipped. The furniture was all clean and comfortable. There was a wrap around balcony accessed from the lounge which gets the morning and early to mid afternoon sun. There was outside furniture for dining and lounging, the balcony furniture was not as modern as the interior and the balcony table and bench is probably due an update, but we were happy enough with it.
Everything is very modern and the towels supplied were good quality.
Both Pascale, the owner and Sabrina, the manager were very efficient but totally unobtrusive. The apartment was scrupulously clean inside although there was some accumulated bird excrement on the balcony rail and an abandoned cloth in the corner of the balcony, which I don't doubt Sabrina would have sorted out had we asked her. It is a quiet area although inevitably, in a residential area, with windows open some music could occasionally be heard late in the evening, either from the town or apartments nearby. Closing the windows resolved this, and there are shutters also available to close if morning light bothers you. The walls are well insulated and even though there were children in the block we couldn't hear them. Chamonix is a lively town and the apartment was conveniently close to everything, but we nevertheless found it peaceful and had an undisturbed week there. The views from the balcony of the Mont Blanc range and the Aguile du Midi were to die for. We have simply never had views like them before and we spent many happy hours just relaxing on the balcony, wine glass or coffee cup in hand.
We were very happy and comfortable here and would happily recommend the apartment and stay there ourselves again.
Comfortable apartment, good internet/WiFi, very nice living room / kitchen which is well equipped, lots of cupboard space / shelving in bedrooms, 2 additional electric heaters should you need them. Underground parking space excellent. Location is great 2-5 minutes walk to one end / centre of town. 3 mins walk to Aigle cable car and local shops. Would definitely stay again.
Absolutely fantastic apartment in every way. Perfectly situated close to the train station, bus station and town centre. Lovely clean apartment with everything we needed. For me kitchens and bathrooms are a big thing and they were both modern and clean so you felt clean when leaving for a day on the slopes. I would definitely return and stay here again. Thank you X
A comfortable apartment with a great sunny balcony looking up at Mont Blanc. Very central location close to shops and restaurants with the bonus of a parking place. Would recommend for a couple or small family.
My husband, 4-year-old daughter and I stayed for a week following 5 very busy days at Disneyland Paris and a long drive, so we were very glad the apartment lived up to expectations! Sabrina was on vacation when we arrived so her friend Tina showed us around, she was incredibly helpful and welcoming. Sabrina was easy to contact via email throughout our stay and made arrangements for us to check out early the following Saturday.
Having not been to Chamonix before we were pleased at just how close the rental is to the centre of town - a very short stroll which is ideal for those with small children. There is a good-sized Carrefour a short walk away plus many other supermarket options in the town.
We didn't use the underground parking as there was always space on the road inside the complex barrier but it was good to know it was available.
The apartment really did feel like home from home with all necessary facilities (and more) and felt so comfortable. I was 7 months pregnant at the time of our stay so really wanted somewhere that felt relaxing. The beds and sofa were comfortable, the shower is wonderful and having a washing machine and dishwasher was fantastic.
We were incredibly lucky with the weather and being able to sit on the balcony on comfy chairs watching the sun set over Mont Blanc was the icing on the cake - without doubt one of best locations we have ever stayed in. A perfect location whatever the weather though.
There is so much to see and do in the area. Being pregnant I was unable to snowboard but my husband took our daughter snowboarding at Argentiere (5 min drive - this ski area was still open). We all experienced the stunning views from the summits at Les Grand Montets and Aiguille de Midi - highly recommended even for non-skiers. We went on the scenic Montenvers mountain tram to the Mer de Glace which again was stunning. Our daughter enjoyed the fun park especially the Alpine Luge. We even did a road trip one day to Aosta, Italy via the Mont Blanc tunnel and travelled north through the St Bernard Tunnel to Martigny in Switzerland before returning to Chamonix. I would again recommend this trip to anyone staying in Chamonix.
We didn't eat out much in Chamonix - with a young child and such a lovely apartment it made sense to cook for ourselves most nights, however, on our last evening we enjoyed a very good meal at L'M Brasserie in the centre of town.
We definitely hope to return to Chamonix and hopefully the Lyret - thank you!
