We stayed at La Savoyarde in early March for a 3 day ski trip. The hotel is located about 30 metres from the Brevent Flegere lift with a skihire shop and small bar in between. Very convenient. Its only a further 20 metres to a bus stop to bring you to the towncentre bus stop to go to the nearby resorts of Les Houches, Le Tour and Argentierre.

The rooms were basic but clean and the staff were friendly. We didn't eat at the hotel as breakfast at €12 pp seemed pricey for a continental breakfast. I think other reviewers looking for an english breakfast in a small 14 room french hotel may have unreasonable expectations. That being said eating out in Chamonix in town and on the slopes is not cheap.

Room clean but that was the best point .Toilet leaked and unless you were under three feet tall you could not stand to use the toilet as it was under the roof beam.
The bath was half size. We requested a full english breakfast on our second day, we were told "sorry no bacon" .Needless to say, next morning no attempt to provide any hot breakfast at all. We could see no restaurant ,although this was stated on the front of the hotel. We had been to Chamonix before and we will go back again but we will be giving the La Savoyard a miss..

Me and my wife stayed at Hotel La Savoyarde, Chamonix for the last week in January 2008 whilst we went snowboarding.

Firstly the location of the hotel for skiers/boarders is first class, the Brevent lift is two doors away. Although be warned that there is a pretty steep hill down to Chamonix town. Ok when your heading out, but tough when you've had a big meal and a few drinks and heading back to the hotel. Although i'd rather walk this at night than doing it during the day with your board and gear on to get to the lift.

The Hotel itself is a very old building, it is simple and traditional. The rooms have ample space and they were cleaned every day. We had the breakfast which was continental, you had to pay extra for hot stuff. We didnt have dinner as there are loads of restaurants in the town.

Another review mentioned the staff not speaking great English, this is true but you are in France!!!

Our room was on the ground floor with a Mont Blanc view. All in all i would recommend this hotel and would return to it.

I have added a couple of pics.

Lovely old manor house right next door to the Brevent ski lift so very handy for skiers. Also only a 5 minute walk from town.. down a hill. The breakfast area and lounge was lovely, but the rooms have paper thin walls and I thought someone was coming into my room everytime our neighbours opened their door! Continental breakfast was satisfactory. However, the real problem with this hotel is that the owner is the only staff member that speaks english. He is often not around, and so communication was extremely limited with my broken french. The girls that ran reception were italians so they didn't know the area, so compounded by the language barrier, we got practically no useful information from the hotel in regards to transport/ sightseeing.
