Stayed here for a week, didn't want to leave. it is the perfect chalet hotel. the food was fantastic specially the breakfast. Near to the center of town yet far enough away for peace and quiet. We has a balcony with Mont Blavc in front. Impossible to have benn better

Room Tip: Go for a room that is in the front of the hotel for the best view

Perfectly located at the base of Mt Blanc. A mountain view room is a must!! The hotel is a 5 min walk to the center of town where all the restaurants and shops are. The hotel has a parking for those travelling by car. I really liked the friendliness of the owner, who welcomed us with a drink (every saturday) and who was also very helpful.

My husband and I spent a few nights here in August and had a wonderful stay. The young lady at the front desk was most accommodating with very good English, though her male counterparts, not so much. While we were there during the summer and quite enjoyed the walks into town, which is not very far. I would have to say I wouldn't want to lug ski gear from there in the winter. Though they do provide cards for free shuttle and bus rides. The breakfast is fine, but we didn't know until check out it was extra. I suppose one thing worth mentioning is there was no safe in the room. Otherwise the room was very comfortable and I would certainly recommend a stay.

We stayed a week here this winter for our skiing vacation. We used an airport transfer and got straight from Geneva to the hotel. A very warm welcoming met us. They speak several languages. Our room had a great view, good temperature, a comfortable bed, the bathroom was perfect with a good shower. In the basement there was a very practival ski locker that you can keep your ski equipments. The location was good for skiing. There were about between 3-10 minutes walking distance (in ski boots) to the ski busses, depending on which you are taking. In "walking shooes" I would say a 5 mintues walk to city the center. Every morning we enjoyed a great breakfast with a good view. After dinner you can enjoy hot chocolate or a glas wine at the fire place. We would stay there again.

Hermitage Hotel is a really lovely boutique hotel. It has been recently renovated and is just beautifully furnished. Main positives were:
- Rooms are spacious;
- Very clean even to my high standards of cleanliness;
- Big, comfortable livingroom area and bar downstairs that feels private and homely with fire, daily newspapers etc;
- Lovely selection of teas with free piece of cake a very nice touch;
- Reception is very friendly and helpful;
- There's no kettle in the room but we asked for hot water and this arrived within minutes with sugar and milk;
- Ski room with boot warmers etc;
- Very close to Intersport Avenue Bouchard and bus stops to the slopes;
- Very close to the centre of town;
- Free parking; this can be very expensive elsewhere in Chamonix - for example we previously stayed at Mercure Central and paid EUR30 per day parking;
- We even got some free chocolates upon checkout!

The only negative I can add is that we tried using the massage shower after sauna and the water smelled foul - probably because it hadn't been used in a while but meant that we ended up not wanting to use it.

All in all, I would definitely recommend staying here and it would certainly be my first choice to stay if/when I visit Chamonix again!

Arrived by car, the GPS accurately to us to the front door.

We booked last minute for Easter 2013. We were only able to get a 2 bedroom triple room but the extra space was great. Typical alpine chalet, all wood style, very nice.

Very small bathroom with bath, maybe better just to have a shower and more room? Separate toilet, again a small room but the double and single rooms were fine for size. Super view from the room and balcony of the Aiguile Du Midi and the kiddie slopes.

Very helpful check in staff but room not ready even at 1530. When we got to the room at 1700 there was some partly eaten food left in the cupboard from the previous occupants. Not really a problem.

We were woken up with a start early one morning with water dripping through the ceiling on to my head. The manager was very helpful and fixed it that day while we were out. It didn't reoccur.

There is a super lounge with big log fire and feature wood chairs. Great to sit there and look out at the snowy landscape. Saturday drinks in the lounge as well for free.

We didn't take breakfast (extra) so we can't comment on that. There is a lift which is helpful with heavy suitcases.

Plenty of free parking across the lane outside the annex and maisonette. The location is just a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Chamonix.

We would definitely stay there again and probably plan to do so in the summer on the way through to Switzerland.

Summary - great hotel, great staff, great location. Well recommended.

Room Tip: High floor with balcony

The beautiful Danish receptionist is a credit to the hotel. She is fantastic! Saturday evening drinks with the owners is a great way to meet others and try some local delicacies. The Champagne glasses are out of this world as is some of the reception and bar furniture. I loved every moment of my stay in February 2013. AND the snow was fantastic!

Room Tip: 42m apartment style room - perfect
