Concept of the hotel is great, however the delivery is not there.

While gathering a bunch of jolly ski enthusiasts who like to have a good time to run the place may seem a great idea, in practice it seems to fall apart as the staffs' only concern appears to be their own enjoyment. There won't be any danger of any of the staff putting themselves out for you.

We lost several hours of skiing during our stay, waiting for the apparent shuttle service, and also the ski shop to open, as the staff recovered from their hangovers. Not really what you want when only staying a few days. The staff also managed to write off one of the buses while we were there, moving the shuttle service from totally unreliable to almost non existent as they prioritised the remaining bus to ferry their mates to / from the airport, and the further away lifts, rather than at least focusing on moving the residents into the town centre to catch the shuttle buses.

In common with other reviews, the bar opening hours are indeed completely up to whatever plans the staff may have - given the only communal space is within that bar area, its not much good for chilling out when the staff have decided to disappear to a party elsewhere.

Whenever anything goes wrong, don't expect much help or sympathy. On commenting that the hot water was difficult to get, one friend was offered a 100EUR bet by management that he could get hot water - obviously we were reluctant to take that one up.

In short, the key selling points of this place do not materialise, which is very unfortunate as it could have worked.

I stayed here for 2 nights in Jan 2010 whilst on a skiing trip in the Chamonix Valley.

The room was basic but clean, warm and comfortable. All of the staff are incredibly warm and welcoming. All speak good English and French.

The Hotel Bar is good fun and a local hangout for a lot of the trendy local and ex-pat extreme Snowboarders and Skiers. Drinks are competitively priced compared to the region and the Pool table is free! The bar also offers snacks such as Nachos / Burgers etc as well as a simple restaurant food.

The Hotel conveniently has it's own Ski / Snowboard rental pro shop and also can sell ski passes - saving first day faff!

Le Vert is about a 20 minutes walk from the town centre bars and shops.

For piste access a bus stop is right outside for travel to / from the main ski areas (Le Tour, Grand Montets, Flegere / Brevant and Les Houches), the hotel also runs a mini bus shuttle mornings and evenings for guests for a minimal fee.

If you want a pleasant place to stay never, ever stay at the Vert. I had the misfortune to try and sleep through one of their regular Friday night partys (it was not "well advertised" despite the managers comments else where on this web site). Windows, shutters and ear plugs couldn't block out the sound of pumping music and screaming revellers. At 4am I had to restrain a nearly demented wife from re-enacting medieval siege scenes by pouring boiling water on revellers heads as they caroused beneath our window. Not the best way to spend a night before an early flight.... Le Vert Hotel? Le Merd Hotel would be more apt.

Overall - really good. Most important - staff. Very friendly, very helpful. Rooms were functional but better than a lot of similar accommodation. Spacious (relatively for mountain/ ski rooms) and en-suite. Winner!
Bar area great. Breakfast great (staff allowed us to eat when we got up, rather than clear away breakfast a the prescribed time)
Bit of a walk from town centre, but not too bad. 10 mins or so.

Stayed here for 2 nights in May and found it was great value for money. Room was quite small but adequate (had a great view) but the shower/toilet was all in one and hardly had even elbow room but was fine for the 2 nights. It's about 10/15 minute walk to the town centre which didn't bother us as weather was lovely. The staff were helpful and friendly, there was a bar and pool room etc. Unfortunately they had finished doing food for the season so we didn't get to sample the well reviewed food.

I think for the price it's great value as long as you don't expect any frills.
