“Great B&B”
Reviewed 15 March 2013

We have just returned from a lovely stay at Le Seizena. A B&B really rather than a hotel but room was great, not brand new but clean and all one would expect with a great view in our case. Breakfast was better than expected having read other reviews here - usual buffet inc. various breads, crossaint, toaster, yoghurts, fresh fruit, cereal, and even that day's newspapers - but also hot food on request for extra £. Easy location for bubble up 1650. All staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. I guess the fact it has a steam room is good but don't get too excited!

Room Tip: Valley rooms smaller but still fine with fab. views.

Will start with a qualification - I have been coming to this hotel for nearly 10 years now and I like it. But on the flip side I hope that gives me a degree of experience. The first thing you notice about this hotel as a repeat guest is the staff do not change much - that means happy staff and happy staff normally equals good service. I always stay in a valley view room which gives you views down towards Courchevel 1550 and the valley below - the view is one reason but also for a skiing holiday perspective the morning sunlight acts as a great first lift wake up call.

It is also worth highlighting at this point I have stayed in this hotel with friends (all male group) plus with my partner. The experience is the same in all cases with an extremely friendly staff and great comfortable rooms. If you are travelling with kids there are family rooms with a separate set of bunk beds.

The hotel is the sister property to K2 which unless you own an oil field is a little out of most peoples league. However the benefits of that partnership carry over with great amenities in the rooms, bath robes, condiments and toiletries etc. The rooms are always spotless and the decor is clean, crisp and a million miles away from the typical Savoyard themes of most places in the area. The hotel has an aeronautical theme, I thnk because the owner is a pilot. This theme carries throughout the property from the reception, the salon and the breakfast room.

Breakfast is included and this is more than ample ahead of a days skiing with typical french patisserie, cold meats, cheese and cereal all on a buffet basis. Coffee, hot chocolate, juices.

After a hard day on the slopes your gear is safe in the secure ski locker and what is more tired legs only have to cross the road from the base of the lift station to the hotel. The entrance is also 15m from the bus stop to 1850 and 1550. Tired limbs can soak up in the steam room and for those that evidently didn't ski hard enough there is a cross trainer - in 10 years I have never seen anyone on it!!!

In terms of the staff all languages are covered and this year, amazingly there is a Chinese speaking receptionist.

All in all a fantastic well priced hotel in a lovely resort which is made excellent by kind, attentive, polite and genuinely nice staff.

Room Tip: Book early and ask for a valley view room.

We stayed here for 1 week in january. The location could not be better as its just at the bottom of the slopes. The room was clean and comfortable, we had a room with a bath and it looked out over the valley. Breakfast was okay but could have been more choice of warm food.

The hotel is 3 stars and we did not expect too much. Maybe part of the charm of Courchevel made our stay in Le Seizena better than the service and quality of the hotel in itself. Whatever, I do not think you will be disappointed at all. Family rooms for 400 euros the night at a 3 stars hotel might seem a robbery anywhere else, but at Courchevel everything is so expensive. That is why I found Le Seizena such a good value. Well located at Courchevel 1660, you just cross the street and find the escalator that takes you to the slopes. Breakfast however, was a little bit disappointing although fresh and tasty (but not much of a choice). But the personnel was great: being a small hotel they remember your name from the hello to the goodbye moment.

This is the 4th time we have visited the 3 valleys and as far as hotels go this is a little gem of a place. Compared to the much more run down and out of date Chaudanne in meribel I would choose this each time for the hotel alone.
The positives are:
Spacious bedrooms and nice up to date modern furnishings. The hotel has been updated throughout in the past few years. Very clean and warm. Nice lounge areas to sit in downstairs which are quiet and peaceful. We paid extra for a valley room which also was larger than a standard. Hamman spa area which is small but very nicely done.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Much better than a lot of places.
Mini bar in room - Free of charge and useful for your own lunches etc.
Free wifi but can't get it in your room.

The negatives are:
If you are skiing the 3 valleys rather than just local pass then courchevel 1650 isn't the best location as it is the furthest point to the west on the map. It takes a long time to get over to Val Thoren / Orelle and Meribel is a better location for an area pass. Not the fault of the hotel though...
The boot room is very small and if the hotel was fullI, I imagine it would be a bit of a nightmare.
The breakfast included is very basic just cereal / bread / cheese / meat juice and yoghurt. It is extra to have cooked eggs. Bacon. Mushrooms. It is approx 6 euros for this per day. But it is very nicely done.
Marketed by Crystal as ski in ski out - it isn't - its a walk across the road and up an escalator. Not far but not ski in/out. Again not the hotels fault in this case.

All in all 1650 is very quiet - which is what we wanted. The food choice is limited but there is a free bus to 1850 outside the hotel if you fancy a change. The schuss bar next door is nice for a drink, more traditional and cosy - better than rockys on the other side which is a bit more "drinking pub".

Great place to ski and a great hotel to stay in.

Room Tip: valley side are better but at an extra charge

Great hotel, with amazing location in the middle of 1650 village. 20m from escalator to ski gondola and ski school meeting point and in amongst all the shops/bars/restaurants.

Hotel is finished really nicely, rooms are great size with loads of storage and nice en suite.

Breakfast is nice, cereal, pastries, yoghurts, drinks, cheese all free. You pay extra for cooked breakfast and or porridge but reasonable.

Would recommend a valley view room as village view very noisy with people leaving bars and then traffic from early morning.

Nice restaurants in the village, would recommend Le Petit Savoyard for fondue and pizzas, and also L'Alambic.

Great skiing, 1650 less busy than 1850. Bel Air and Chenus restaurants more reasonable than others.

Overall great hotel and would recommend highly.

The location of this hotel is fabulous. And the rooms are spacious, very quiet, and clean with incredibly comfortable beds, flat screen tvs, cables for internet, and a fantastic made to order breakfasts. Rooms have beautiful views of the mountains and come with a mini-fridge for your wine and cheese. It is right across the street from the gondola and the ski school and is walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The staff are charming and helpful. This should be a four-star hotel. Highly recommended and we will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for mountain views.
