“Great place but avoid wedding parties”
Reviewed 6 August 2013

The hotel has been tastefully renovated and our junior suite was beautifully arranged and furnished. The redone golf course is fantastic and a short drive from the hotel. Also, the restaurants are pretty good quality.

Unfortunately, though, our suite on the third floor was located on top of the party venue for a wedding - we suffered from loud disco beats until 4am, irrespective of complaints. So would recommend you double-check when you are checking in - the right side of the building is more quiet if there is a party than the left side.

Great family room, really helpful staff and nice kids club if you want to use it. V geared towards families, eating in the restaurants with the kids was no problem and the pool was lovely. Really appreciated the touches in the room for the baby, lovely cot, change mat, toiletries, etc We would definitely visit again, felt really refreshed afterwards!

Beautiful hotel with spectacular view of grounds and Lake Geneva. Bathrooms were very luxurious, although the bathtub was very high off the ground, making it a bit tricky to climb in and out ~ you might need a more accessible tub if you are elderly or disabled. Robe, slippers, hair dryer provided. Very friendly, helpful staff. Free shuttle service to and from Evian, which is available all the time. Also, you can walk to the funicular to take you up and down the hill to the town. Lovely outdoor pool, also an indoor one in the spa. Patio for lunch or drinks overlooks immaculate grounds. Nice walking path to the Hotel Royal.

Stayed here for 4-days on business conference. The staff, room, food, services and environment are exceptional. Shuttle could provide you service to anywhere in the surrounding area, including the casino. At the rate (on high side), it's still value for money.

Visiting the hotel for business purposes turned out to be a amazing experience. Friendly helpful staff, spacious rooms (great bathroom facilities) and quality food set the tone. We were conferencing in the hotel and preparation and facilities were good. The views are great and there is a nice outside patio set-up in front of the hotel (too cold to use though). It was a pity the bar closed so early. There is also a nice play/game room for kids.

As it was cold two wood fires were maintained at most times, providing for great atmosphere.

The hotel is set in its own park and there is a sizable pool. There is ample parking.

We arrived by boat from Lausanne and as agreed the hotel car was waiting to bring us to the hotel.
It's a stylish yet not opulent hotel. A sort of down to earth stylish which makes you feel very comfortable.
Upon arrival the receptionist was very kind and forthcoming. She informed us that we've been upgraded to a privilege room and that it wasn't quite ready yet. We had a light lunch in the nice 'bibliotheque' restaurant overlooking the park and lake. She then brought us up to our room explaining how to get to the spa et al - very nice touch.
The room was nicely appointed and in sync with the atmosphere of the beautiful park. Which, on a side note, must be fabulous in spring and autumn. The bathroom was all white, kept simple, and had a stone wall. The protective glass in the shower intended to stop you from making everything wet was too small so indeed much of the place got wet. Nice toiletries, the most beautiful slippers i've got in any hotel - all those small extras make a difference, such as complimentary evian water. Perhaps because it is run together with a 5 stars hotel (royal evian) one has the impression that the Ermitage is more like a 4+ itself.
The spa is not huge but has everything you need. We enjoyed the swimming pool and the loungers, as well as the excellent hammam. Both me and my husband got massages: we recommend the one with red argil.
Dinner: As we are vegetarians we were afraid that we may not have much choice in the French restaurant of the hotel. We were right. They've been somehow accommodating nonetheless agreeing to leave aside the snails and just give us the soup, etc. In the end food was rather good; you certainly need to be prepared to pay around 100 euros per person if you plan to eat + drink here.
I recommend this very nice place for a short weekend away from stress and work.
