“Nice way to get to the top”
Reviewed 22 August 2013

I can recommend taking the funicular if you want to get see Neuvecelle, which lies above Evian on the slope, or stroll back down the slope. The ride is pretty short and not a great experience per se. I enjoyed the walk down, though.

“Interesting experience”
Reviewed 12 August 2013

Probably built to serve the Royal Hotel, the funiculaire goes beyond the hotel to Neuvecelle. However if you go all the way in expectation of a grand view of Lac Leman, you'll be disappointed. You probably might get a better view from the grounds of the Royal Hotel. Nevertheless it is an interesting experience to travel on this historical transport - and, of course, it's free!

“Little old Funicular still running after 106 years”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

We live in this beautiful, clean, floral spa town. The little funicular has charming staff who are attentive [but mostly they only speak French]. Well worth the trip as it is free : it runs from mid-May until mid-September. On the way up/down, you can fill your water bottles from the source of Evian water. We regularly ride our cycles down to the town and then put them on the flatbed coming up the hill.Appreciate the history!

“Save your time”
Reviewed 19 July 2013

Very boring and nothing to do or see along the way or at the top. No commentary or information provided. The views of the lake are nicer from any higher road if you walk up or have a car.

“Nice because it is free”
Reviewed 10 July 2013

Easy way to get up the hill and see the Royal Resort where the G8 met and where French Premier Mitterrand vacationed all the time. Pretty scenic but if you are pressed for time, you can safely give it a miss.
