Hilton Evian-les-Bains
Ranked #4 of 18 Hotels in Evian-les-Bains
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 15 October 2013

We recently visited the Hilton Evian les Bains hotel for a five night vacation.
On arrival we were quickly checked in, upgraded to non less than a superb King Executive suite and personally welcomed by the hotels GM.
This was our first visit to this part of France, but will certainly not be our last. The hotel, located on the banks of lake Geneva offers an exemplary service to its clients, again Hilton standards prevail, staff always smiling an no request a problem. In fact the staff went that little extra, especially with the concern they showed to my wife after her accident while out running in Lyon that morning before we arrived in Evian....sincere and warm thanks to all
Outstanding breakfast was served daily and we dined in house on our last evening, again first class. Breakfast was not available in the Executive lounge during the week, but we did take breakfast there on our last day and enjoyed taking this on the vast outside terrace. Evening snacks and drinks were served from six pm, again these could be enjoyed alfresco on the huge terrace. What is missing here though is an Executive roof top pool and sun loungers....could be another Sorrento Palace !!
Evian is a great location to explore this area, and since we had a car we travelled way up into the Alps visiting Les Gets, Chatel, Morzine and even travelled into Switzerland.
The Budda spa was a haven for relaxation, and never too busy. Outside sun beds could be used but due to the aspect of the hotel sunshine is limited while during our stay the outside pool never had direct sunshine, but was still lovely and warm for swimming.
We look forward to our return.

Room Tip: Our King Executive suite right next to the Executive lounge gave easy access to the lounge and spa...

With making a reservation at a Hilton hotel expectations are high. In doing so with the Hilton in Evians reality is going to be shocking..... It's the worst Hilton I stayed in, in the world.

From the moment we arrived untill we left a high Fawlty Towers feeling came over us.... When we arrived and checked in for an executive sweet nobody even bothered to help us with our lugage, which was considerable, due travelling Europe for a month with 2 dogs and everything needed for that.
The only thing concerning the bell-boy was that we needed to get our car out of the way because a touristbus couldn't unload. He didn't show any interest to help us out with parking, or unloading.

The garage on itself is a hasle where one really could use some help or directions, to begin with! It's difficult to find the entrance when leaving at the entrance again, it's narrow and the nobody ever warned us that the bottum of your car gets stuck(!!!!) at the second level and therefore needs repair. So much for how to recieve your beloved guests! A damaged car to start your stay with and nobody takes responsibily, because it's not a Hilton garage.
By the damages on the floor and stories of other guests: this is known fact. Why not warn? Fawlty Towers.

Back to the luggage: do it yourself, but with the remark to bring back the trolly: 'it's needed you know'!!

The room is spacious, but the bin filled with garbage from the previous inhabitant......

In all hallways the wallpapers are scraped off by staff and their service carts, the lobby, bar and lifts are dirty. As well as the backside of the hotel where you get a good view on the restaurant kitchen and their sloppy way of handeling garbage and cooking fat. Traces of it everywhere, it stinks, paint is run off and the kitchen is far from spotless at first glance.

It explains why the both of us got sick after eating in the lounge restaurant, that enters through walking in the rain for 5 minutes, the fireplace, lightning and airco are not functioning, a mice ran under our table and only 2 hardly motivated staff had to serve 14 tables and it took them close to 2 hours to get us some food and drinks. The rest of our stay we ate out.

The bar is a story on itself: we had to ask for some chips with our drinks. We noticed they weere available, but only because one over hungry young waiter ate handsfull of them from beneath the bar, but in plane sight while talkint to it's collegue.

You like the picuters of the Budha pool and spa? Me too, but reality is that the were taken a decade ago..
The pool is too cold, de sauna worn off, the lockers dirty with leakages everywhere which are handeled by putting towels in the puddles everywhere.

As said; Fawlty Towers at premium price. Do not brake and take the next hotel. It saves you a lot of harsh feelings that are not solved by staff. While talking to them, explaining your complaints at the reception, yhey simply pick-up the phone to answer others......

The Buddha Bar SPA is worth the stay, the Hotel is central and well managed. Big problem is the waiting time for a snack at the Cosmopolitan bar - it cannot take 20 minutes for a croque-monsieur and 40 minutes for a mixed plate of oriental food.

Oh, we loved our trip to Evian. We saved our trip to Evian last and it was a great memory. The town was cute, people were friendly and the water was delicious. The Hilton was a great stay... The room was spacious, clean, modern and had a great window that opened with a view of Lake Geneva. It was walking distance to the Casino, the town center and the spa there is WONDERFUL. Pool, soaking tubs... very relaxing.

The parking was a little quirky, but once you get the hang of it, it was fine. HIGHLY recommend both Evian, the city and the Hilton

Room Tip: If you stay in Evian, The Hilton is the place to stay.

First time visit to Evian-les-Bains and what a great experience we had with the Hilton hotel. The front desk staff were very efficient and helpful throughout our stay, as was the concierge services. But the most efficient was the housekeeping staff who are just super nice with any and all requests. Our 6th floor executive king room was absolutely spacious with a beautiful view of Lake Geneva. We also enjoyed being able to utilize the Executive Lounge which had great food and free champagne every night - now where can you beat that! Our purpose for coming to Evian was to attend the Evian Championship golf tournament and the Hilton staff were very helpful in getting us to and from the event. The waterfront park across the street is a nice place for an evening stroll and one has easy access to plenty of restaurants from the hotel. Would love to return someday.

Room Tip: We utilized Hilton points and were still treated with 5 star service! If you can snag a room on the...

We had a room at the 6th floor, with at beautiful view over the lake. Staff was very helpful, and everything was up to the expected standard (as it always is on a Hilton Hotel). Central located next to the center of town. Lots of restaurants in the area, and if you are playing golf, it seems that there are fine possibilities too.
