“Expensive but good”
Reviewed 21 June 2014 via mobile

Great location in the beautiful town of Evian. Service Standards amongst the best we have experienced ever in France but good service and modern rooms in France come at a high cost: expect to pay 30-40 percent more than at a similar quality hotel in Scandinavia or Germany, for example. Outdoor pool and spa is lovely, some rooms have great views over Lake Geneva , rooms are fresh with aircon and comfortable. Staff speak good English. A nice place for a weekend break.

The service; it's great. The room; it's great. The views; they are great. The spa; it's great. I did not use the pool, but there were people out there enjoying it. Had a great massage and the spa area is so peaceful and relaxing. The room was huge, loved the bathroom, and was the only hotel I have stayed at in France that had working A/C. We ate at the restaurant and the food was good. They have another restaurant with local cuisine on the property (down by the street), but we were too tired after a long drive so we relaxed in the hotel lounge. Everyone seemed to make a genuine effort to make our stay enjoyable, which is why I plan on going back! There is a parking garage on site which is not free. The wifi was pretty spotty so I purchased wifi for our stay. I love that the beautiful lake is right across the street, there are beautiful gardens all around.

It was so nice to meet Magdalena at the Front when we firts came to the Hotel. She was just smiling and was so nice that we went to the room with a very good feeling. The Room was very big and the bed was comfortable the breakfast was also very good. The SPA was a bit old but the treatment was enjoyable and relaxing.

My husband and I have been in Europe for three weeks and only 2 of our stays have been in large chain American hotels. Our room at the Hilton in Evian is a standard king room. It is very spacious, the bath has a tub, separate shower and vessel sink vanity (and is very large, even to U.S. standards). We have a balcony that has a direct view of the pedestrian restaurant/shopping district and a side view of the pool and the lake...magnificent! The a/c is a work of perfection. ..thank you Hilton...it is very hot and humid! The young lady at check in was friendly and efficient and helped us with planning our first day in Evian. My only complaint would be with their having no ice machines and though ice is available at the bar and restaurant, they just don't get that we Americans like our ice....so it is given to you like it is gold. Hilton, take a hint from the Vienna Marriott Renaissance Wien...just put a tiny ice maker on every other floor on the fire stairs...it is heaven to your guests. I would definitely stay at this Hilton again and reccomend it to my friends!

We visited Evian at low as season, the town was quiet and peaceful. We managed to rent bicycles for free from Hilton Evian, weather was nice the first two days, but it was raining all day on the third day. Nevertheless it was still a great retreat for us. We were upgraded to Executive room, and we were offered to have breakfast at the executive lounge on weekdays and at the restaurant downstairs on the weekend. The finger food served at the lounge in the evening were tasty though there were limited selection. The only thing that we think could improve is the attentiveness at the lounge as most of the time the staff were in the kitchen. The overall experience was great, all the staff was friendly, room was very clean and comfortable, beautiful lake view from the room.

We stayed 1 night in the Hilton in June. The situation of the hotel is great, a few meters from the lake, very nice for a walk, you can also take the boat to Lausanne!
As in all Hilton, you have to pay for every single service : the lake view of course, but also the Internet (15€...a joke?) for the day, access to the hammam and sauna...
The service was good and friendly, the room was really big, with a bath and a 2 meters bed (we had the standard bedroom). The room was clean with everything you need, including a boiler and some tea which we always appreciate.
Public parking (12€ for 24h) is in the same building.
The Buddha Bar Spa is very big and modern. We had a massage which was really relaxing. The masseuse were professional. They have an indoor and outdoor (heated) swimming pool.
We had half-board, so we had dinner in the Riva restaurant which is not directly connected with the hotel. The look of the restaurant is great and romantic, with a chimney, candles and a great lake view. The waiters are good and the food as well and pretty creative. We enjoyed the salad with truffle oil. Don't take the half-board if you don't eat that much, not necessarily worthy.
We had a great time in this hotel and in Evian.

Room Tip: Lake view on high floor

Dear Michi4123,

Thank you for your great comments regarding Le Riva. Our new Head Chef Franck Leman is bringing all his professional skills and his love for the French gastronomy into his plates. The whole team is dedicated to satisfy our guests through a fine cuisine & an efficient service. But one night is definitely not enough to enjoy all our services! I hope you will have the opportunity to come back; we will be pleased to welcome you again. Valerie Teysseire, Duty Manager.

I stayed here for only one night with my husband while in Evian. I am not sure what to say about this hotel. On arrival we were greeted by two junior staff.....neither of them spoke English. The guy tried but it was difficult for us to understand him. Everytime i travel to France this seems to be a problem....although i did not expect this in an international chain hotel. Very disappointing!! The senior staff (if you were lucky enough to get one) spoke English well.

Our room was very large with a king bed, not a great view (but if you want the lake view you have to pay for it) bed was comfortable and bathroom was also large.

Breakfast was good. Drinks in the bar were very expensive. We wanted to have dinner in the hotel restaurant but it was fully booked, so we ordered room service instead. Food was very good.
I wish that maids in hotels could keep the noise down...always banging doors and yelling at each other in the hallway.

One thing i disliked was the common areas...not all but most were lacking a bit of charm. There was a large seating area outside in a courtyard which had a terrible design. It was definitely not an inviting place to sit.
Location is very good. If you are arriving by ferry, it is only a 5 minute walk (you can actually see the hotel as you arrive on the ferry)

Dear Pinkpeonie,

Thank you for your review on our hotel. I am happy to read that you have enjoyed the quality of our restaurants. I hope you will have the opportunity to come back in order to experience Le Riva. We have just welcome our new Head Chef, M. Franck Leman, who has been working in many prestigious places. His arrival will be a new turn for our restaurant with a clear focus on quality and originality. On the other hand, our junior staff is currently being trained by our Front Office Manager whose mother tongue is english. They already improved a lot. I hope you will come back to assess them!
