“Cozy attic room with a big bathroom.”
Reviewed 10 August 2013

There was no elevator but we stayed in the excellent room on the roof. I loved the spacious bathroom with a nice bathtub. Views from the little windows were amazing.
We could hear strong and long-lasting bell sounds from the church every 15 minutes (each time during 3 minutes) all day. It was a bit hard to sleep in the morning.
I forgot my cellphone charger in the room after leaving Grenoble and the hotel generously mailed it to my apartment in Paris. Overall, it is an excellent hotel in the center of Grenoble.

I stayed there for 4 nights. The hotel is well located overlooking Victor Hugo square/park. There is a nearby tram stop which makes it very convenient in case you need to go around the city. The staff were very helpful. The only drawback is the size of the room. It is really small with a closet like toilet. The hotel has its charm though.

Views from room windows were very nice. Park, architecture, mountains, etc. But rooms, while nice were just OK. Clean, but dated. Breakfast in the morning was nice with a variety of different items to eat. Really enjoyed the food. Felt very old world, back in time. Internet in room worked fine but pass code only worked for one device. Needed a second pass code to allow both computer and phone access.

Room Tip: Elevator only goes to 4th floor. Had to take stairs up to the 5th floor.

Hotel Angleterre is perfectly situated at the old town of Grenoble. The breakfast offers a lot of options and the personnel is very friendly, even though their english could be better. The rooms are okay, even though they are not very spacious and the walls between the room certainly are not very thick. Clean and tidy, though. All in all a typical 3 - star hotel perfectly situated.

We were very pleased during our stay in Grennoble. Great central location, you can rich by foot all the public transport. Breakfast with buffet, good variety.
"cosy", styled decorated, fantastic atmosphere, excellent personal attention. I highly recomend it.

Room Tip: We had a room in the highest floor- GREAT- a unique view over the square and to the mountains.

This is a very tired property, but in a good location near the town centre.
The (municipal) car park is a 5 minute walk away, but they have negotiated a reduced rate for hotel guests.
The room furniture, bathroom facilities and beds were all due for renewal. Room was fairly noisy, both from other guests and from outside. There is a large church right behind the property which provides a useful alarm service from 7am every 15 minutes!
Breakfast was good.
Probably won't be staying here again, but will look for a better hotel if i need to stay in Grenoble in the future.

Room Tip: Try elsewhere!

Stayed for a business trip for a couple of days. First room was on the Main Street, first floor and very loud due to traffic. Walls not exactly sound isolating either. Room interior tidy but old fashioned, bathrooms tiny but clean. Staff friendly, but English not exactly great. Unfortunately, unable to connect the calls, which became a nuisance after the fourth try. Breakfast ok. Changed room second night, but still loud due to sound of doors and lift. Considering the rate for a single room for som 110 euros, this was too pricey and the lack of modern standard and poor sound insulation is off-putting. Will check for another place when on business in Grenoble again. A least the location is pretty excellent near the centre.
