“Beautiful small museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

The museum is very nice, with special dedication towards the history of the mountain people which is elaborate and excellent. The ski exhibit is nice but not too elaborate, which is due to space I guess. The chapel is beautiful if you carefully look at the carvings on the wall and ceiling. The permanent exhibits have English translation which was very helpful. According to me all museums should have translations, otherwise it's difficult to fathom the beauty of the exhibits. The museum also has a interesting take on the history of undergarments. It houses a copy of La Madelon. Overall I will recommend this on the way down from Fort Bastille as you can also relax yourself on their beautiful patio

Good temporary exhibitions, great landscape view from terrace, free access. The building is a must see itself.

“Small historic museum located on the way to the Bastille.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 November 2013

The Musée dauphinois (Dauphinois museum) is a county museum, located in Grenoble (France).

It is an ethnographic, archaeological and historical museum, covering the territory of the former province of Dauphiné.

In a 17th-century monastery, visitors can visit the chapel of Sainte-Marie-d'en-Haut with a rich baroque decoration.

The permanent exhibits have English translations, which is good for those who do not speak french fluently. It's quite historic and interesting to visit here , plus you get a workout by climbing the hill to visit it.

“Well worth the visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2013 via mobile

Loved this museum. Fantastic view of Grenoble and beautiful gardens, even though the weather was dull and grey. It would be even more lovely in summer. The permanent exhibition about the lives of the mountain people was excellent. The displays were innovative and we especially enjoyed the models of houses and the rooms set up as they would have been. The exposition on the history of undergarments was also really interesting and very well presented. Would highly recommend.

“Good museum for those”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2013

The museum is well laid out, with temporary exhibitions along with the church, ski exhibit and gorgeous gardens. However I'd say that this museum would be best enjoyed for those who take an actual interest in the exhibits that are here - as it is not the most captivating museum to visit as a tourist in Grenoble.

Having said this, the gardens are lovely, and perfect in summer time for a lunch time (considering the museum is free - there's not reason not to with the gorgeous views on offer here!)
